09:01 AM ET 08.23 | A panel that included former NHL goaltender and current CBC analyst Kevin Weekes hit a number of topics, including which team has improved the most in the offseason. Weekes: "I would say Atlanta. I just like the fact that they got winners in Dustin Byfuglien, Brent Sopel, Ben Eager and Andrew Ladd. (Thrashers GM) Rick Dudley is reshaping the culture down there. They have young, hungry players who play well, and they've brought in winners."

The NHL's most improved team is the Tampa Bay Lightning. Adding Gagne and Dan Ellis was huge for them. Also the sharks. Getting Nittyamaki was....... hahaha LMAO!

Dudley is a good GM but being in the right place at the right time for the 1st wave of the Blackhawks fire sale and overpaying for Byfuglien doesn't consitute Atlanta as the most improved team.

Yeah good point. I like what they did in the draft too. Yzerman looks like he def knows what he's doing.

I think for most improved it depends on starting point. Atlanta definitely didn't have much to work with, so improvement there would be quicker and easier. Tampa might have had a better baseline, but certainly bringing in Yzerman was huge for their future.

Let's wait for 20 games played then decide.
