Mike Fisher is staying put, the Sun has learned. The Senators are expected to announce later this afternoon that they have signed the unrestricted free agent center to a five-year, $21-million deal with the club. This is a big first step in the Senators' efforts to keep Dany Heatley, Wade Redden and Chris Kelly together. All four of the players were to be unrestricted free agents at the conclusion of the 2007-08 season

I am a Leaf fan. However, I love Mike Fisher's game. He is tough, plays hard always, puts the team first and is a great penalty killer. Good signing to keep him around long-term.

Big deal to this Sens squad - Fisher is the heart and soul of that team. Five years may be a long time though, for a guy who's style of play causes him to be injured so much, but you gotta do what you gotta do to keep him

No surprise here. Good work Ottawa.

seems a safe bet, bostongm, unless he's dominant out of the gates

This is a good signing for the Sens, he was the only player on the Sens team that played with any emotion or sense of urgency against the Ducks in the finals

Great signing. Fisher was the best Senators player in the Cup final. He has a great game. He is worth the big bucks!!

Heatly should never be able to play this spot again!! He took a life of a team
mate.

How can this sport alow this. NFL doesn't allow this kind of behavior. Why is the NHL so relaxed. A player lost his life and this one goes on and earns a living, having never served any time.

We need to re-think these rules

oooo!!!!! did I hit a nerve botogm - I guess that's why he is in Canada, & not the USA where he killed his team mate. He should be in Prison where murder's serve their time, not earning a living. Jerk O**
