08:14 AM ET 08.25 | Citing tampering rules, White Sox GM Ken Williams demurred when asked about trying try to claim Manny Ramirez if he clears waivers. While Williams played it cool for the media, a source told the Sun-Times that not only is Williams feeling good about the prospect of Mannywood on the South Side, but the GM "is pushing [in] all his chips on getting Manny Ramirez." Not only to help give the offense a presence, but Williams likes the message that it sends to his team this time of year -- "that the race isn't over until he says it's over," the source said of Williams' thought process. But there are breaks that have to fall the right way for the Sox. ... That's why Williams wasn't blowing up "Manny being Manny" balloons just yet.

Manny, don't let the door hit ya' on the way out... which I'm sure you won't...

I don't care what Manny has done and will continue to do, I've always liked him.

just as kenny williams mentioned yesterday. 'he can only get on your nerves but so much for the next 30 days'. can still hit and drive in runs.....could be a good pick up for the sox.

he should negotiate half season contracts for the remainder of his career......can you do that? he'd be the poster child for something like that.

Desperate times for desperate people. Good luck fools!!!

Manny and Ozzie together ought to make for good theater.

Once again my guy Kenny is getting an old past their prime part from the junk yard and installing it to the car for repair with hopes that it will hold up. First it was Carl Everett, then ROberto Alomar (twice) then Scott Podsednik, Ken Griffey Jr., Freddy Garcia, Juan Pierre, Omar Vizquel, Andruw Jones. etc Who's next Harold Baines? Carlton Fisk??? But that's his M.O. and he's being true to character so why not? I like Kenny alot. I just would like to see him put all his "chips on the table" and get a player in his prime like... Prince Fielder

Kenny Williams claiming Manny Ramirez could help the White Sox down the stretch and through the playoffs, by keeping Ramirez off other AL Teams rosters; And if Williams is also successful in getting a decent starting pitcher to add to the White Sox rotation.
Both Manny Ramirez and Ozzie Guillen are characters; It will be interesting to hear and read how they quote each other.
