08:09 AM ET 08.26 | Carlos Zambrano, who has a 2.25 ERA in four starts since coming back, addressed the Cubs sending him to the bullpen this past April. Does he ever wonder if he'd be pitching like this had he stayed in the rotation from the outset? "What do you think?" he replied. "The situation we were in, when they moved me to the bullpen, it was kind of weird. But at the same time, they needed somebody in the bullpen in the eighth inning. ... I think from my perspective we get too desperate too soon. To make that decision, that's OK. But you know what? I'm trying to finish the season strong and trying to be consistent and prepare for this last month."

Another article where all I had to do was read the title for my response to be, of course he does. He's the definition of dips h i t.

Uh Carlos....your not exactly in a position where you should be questioning what the Cubs do. Just be grateful they still have you in there organization.

No kidding. You act like a freaking psychopath half the time, I think I'd be glad to have a job and just keep my mouth shut.

August 26, 2010  09:21 AM ET

Big Z's a tool. Like the first 3 posts state...he should be happy to still be in a Cubs uniform so he might want to keep his mouth shut for a change and just do his job.

Why wouldn't Zambrano question the Cubs' moves? They are 20 games under .500. You would have to be wearing Cubbie red tinted glasses and inebriated with Cubbie Kool-aid to think they have been well run, this year or for the last 100+ years.

No question about that...but do you think Z is the player that should be in the front of the parade making that observation? If anything he should be the one when looked at for a comment crickets should be heard during his non-response.

Totally agree. I agree with what K-Mark said too, but when you are the most badly overpaid player on the roster and you have caused a large amount of the situations and problems with the team........you shouldn't be saying anything.

You are right. But I guess this is Carlos being Carlos, similar to Ozzie being Ozzie.

But seriously, The Cubs should have questioned Carlos' performance at least a few years back. They coddled him for way too long

this isn't news except for the enjoyment of pointing at the village idiot. News would be more like "Zambrano shuts his mouth and pitches well."

Because he is an employee making millions, his job is to shut up and play and let management worry about the moves. It is not like everyone in the world doesn't know what Carlos has just caught onto...
Additionally he is one of their bad moves.

Zambrano doesn't have to be grateful to be on the team. He has a guaranteed contract and a full no trade contract. Without his approval, the Cubbies can only release him, in which case the Cubbies will have to pay him the rest of his contract without getting any compensation at all for him. I think Carlos would also enjoy being a free agent. I'm sure there are contenders who would even make a deal with the devil to get ahead of the competition. And the best part is they would only need to pay the MLB minimum as their portion of his pay.

Zambrano wasn't the team's biggest problem when they moved him to the bullpen. He wasn't even the worst starter. He was punished because they expected more out of him than other pitchers. His latest starts show maybe there were better ways to get him productive again. The Cubbies and their fans have a history of going after unpopular players while giving other players a pass. Soriano is still loafing almost every game and you have to question the competitiveness of Ramirez. He just doesn't care. Derek Lee wouldn't even let the hitting instructor help him. But Zambrano is the only only one who gets this level of hate. The Cubbies have mishandled him since they gave Z his latest contract. They created the monster by not reigning him while he was winning.

HA I agree Allstarz. His contract maybe the WORST move the front office made

If you really think that Soriano, Lee, Ramirez, etc. have been getting a "free pass" this year, then you are not really paying attention. Fans comment about Zambrano because he is the subject of the article. If any one of the overpaid Cubs were to open his mouth, they would get ripped too.
Also, at the time Z was moved to the bullpen, he WAS the worst pitcher in our rotation, therefore it was a pretty obvious move for most Cubs fans. But since you, KenoshaMark, are clearly a Cub hater, any move made by the Cubs would bring critical comments from you.

big z appears to have forgotten how poorly he was pitching early this year. he thinks they moved him to the bullpen to shore it up? yeah, cubs were hoping he'd be effective there. but he was removed from the rotation b/c he wasn't getting people out, not b/c cubs thought they needed him more in bullpen.

cubs oughta make z and fonzie work in the front office during offseason to "earn" at least some of the 200 mil + that they are paying these two.

when you underperfom as badly as Z has this year, it's really hard to justify questioning anyone else in the organization.

One decent outing, and he's back making comments and qustioning decisions. I have a suggestion...Shut up and pitch!!!

August 26, 2010  06:26 PM ET

I guess he stopped taking personality coaching from Hugo Chavez. He almost sounds civilized.

I don't even bother to read what SphincterboyMarkie says anymore, it's always the same overwrought crap (s)he always spews here. The nutslapper can't leave a comment without saying "Cubbies", but what more could you expect from someone with her attention issues? Zambrano has proven that he is a head case (another trait shared by Markie) and will probably never excel on any team for any considerable amount of time.

The Carlos Zambrano issue is just a thing the new Chicago Cub Manager will need to address and quickly too after they get named if the Cubs have any chance of playing winning baseball at Wrigley Field.
