08:18 AM ET 08.26 | For those who are looking forward to seeing how the new roster or Cup hangover effect will hit the Blackhawks, there will be national opportunities. The Blackhawks will get plenty of face time on national television this season as they defend their Stanley Cup championship. The Hawks will appear nationally on Versus 11 times in 2010-11, tied for the most in the NHL, and could appear five more times during NBC's flex scheduling. Versus will televise 78 regular-season NHL games this season -- 13 more than in '09-10 -- and the Hawks will help kick off the schedule Oct. 7 when the network airs a triple-header of season openers, culminating with their game against the Avalanche in Denver.

I come here to look for everyone's Burkie avatar and all I get is @#$#$@# spam!!!! FN interns, get rid of these guys!!

They lost a lot of high quality role players, but that's what they were. Role players. As much as I liked guys like Versteeg, Byfuglien, Madden, Niemi and Eager, they weren't the stars of the team. Every team needs quality role guys, and they lost some good ones, but it's not like they lost Kane, Toews, Seabrook, Hossa, Keith or Sharp. They'll be back next year and very capable of defending the Cup.

Spam is a highly nutritious way to start your day.

Versus will televise 78 regular season games this year. Which won't mean much if Versus doesn't get into more homes.

This is how you grow the NHL - show the same 3 teams over and over and over again.

They're gonna show three this year? Seriously, you're right. I think Versus only gets to about 14 homes anyway. I don't know what the answer may be but the NHL certainly doesn't even try to get strong national, even regional, coverage.

LOL! Well, they will have good ratings in at least those 3 markets.

Well they need to show a lot of Pittsburgh right, and when Pitt plays Washington, well they have to show that right. So we are at 3 teams. If you are in the Northeast though, don't worry we will see 22 games of either the Rangers or Flyers too. Even when the Rangers are in 11th place with 5 games to go.

Does Versus even know there are teams west of Chicago?? Sure wouldn't to air a few western games in Mountain/Pacific prime time.... Wait, that makes too much sense.... five for thinking.

August 26, 2010  01:41 PM ET

Wouldn't HURT to air.... brain got ahead of fingers...

Versus is a bandwagon jumper. If they show a game Center Ice blacks it out

LOL..............you're on the money. I see very little of the Western Conference teams (except during play-offs). I think it might surprise a few folks by the number of viewers those games might attract. Sure couldn't hurt to give 'em a try.

HAHAHAHA!! And then you'll get to see your devils in 2 place in conference with 3 games to go. And your they're on your couch saying," Come on Marty!! you can beat Henrik Lundqvist, Oh!! No you Can't!!!

I don't know why we still have to go w vs- NHL let's get back on espn or something everyone can see- how bout showing games on your own network channel for free? I don't mind vs as long as they are on the same page w direct tv- I don't want another early blackout like last year.

August 26, 2010  11:58 PM ET

Last year was an interesting year, lots of suprises, versus might not want to dote on one team.
