Thanks to the Phillies schedule, he got an extra day of rest. The next time out: Complete game shutout. The time after that: A run in four innings before a 1:50 rain delay forced him out of the game. The Rangers don't have the schedule to intercede on their behalf. For their own good -- and Lee's -- they need to step in and make the decision for him. ... While the Rangers have talked about wanting to keep Lee on a routine, results suggest the occasional extra day makes him more, not less effective. He's 4-1 with a 2.19 ERA when getting at least five days of rest this season. He's now a much more pedestrian 6-7 with a 3.66 ERA on four or fewer days.

Ahh those Dawg Days of Summer..... Rest is always a good thing for a "Work Horse Pitcher" like Cliff Lee.... And the standings might indicate it is now time for the Rangers to start giving Lee that extra day, before the Play offs start
