Angels done with pitcher?

Bartolo Colon appears to have pitched for the last time in front of the home fans at Angel Stadium. Colon, who won the Cy Young Award in 2005 but has since been hampered by injury, was scratched from today's scheduled start because of back stiffness, Manager Mike Scioscia said Tuesday. If Colon does not start next week, his Angels career probably is over. The Angels do not figure to include him on their playoff roster, and his contract expires after the season.

maybe the rangers should sign him, since he dominates over us

September 19, 2007  09:28 AM ET

He's a Yankee next season.

September 19, 2007  09:34 AM ET

You're mistaken.

September 19, 2007  09:45 AM ET

No way. Click onto NY Newsday online edition and find the article about Cashman. Then read it. Things have changed on the Yankees. For the better. Over the hill veterans need no longer have their agents come calling on the NY Yankees. Also, why would anyone want this guy at the money he is presently "earning"? Even in his 18-12 year for the Angels his ERA was at 5.00. Naw keep him, the Yanks don't want him.

September 19, 2007  10:07 AM ET

He hasa not been the same since his injuries.

September 19, 2007  10:36 AM ET

Yanks don't need any pitchers as they have an entire farm systems worth to fill the rotation with. And why would anyone want Colon? He's out of shape, not getting any younger and washed up.

September 19, 2007  10:40 AM ET

I couldn't agree more, bcoltrinari.

September 19, 2007  10:44 AM ET

Years of neglecting his diet, body, and ignoring more experienced coaches have finally caught up to this mellonhead

September 19, 2007  10:45 AM ET

How's this for a rotation somewhere next year"

FatRoger Clemens
FatCurt Schilling
David Wells
Bartolo Colon
Fattass to be named later

September 19, 2007  10:47 AM ET

This is the problem I have with giving pitchers such big contracts. When they are young like Colon and Freddie Garcia they look awesome to sign to 6-7 yr deals for 80-100 mil, right? Well..........Watch this happen with Zito and Zambrano now. Happened with K. Brown and M. Hampton. Pavano, Wright, etc.

September 19, 2007  10:49 AM ET

I like that lineup though Truth. I also like that you didn't need to add fat before the last two names!! How about Antonio Alfonseca as reliever and Bobby Jenks for closer on the all fat rotation??

September 19, 2007  10:50 AM ET

Maybe Zambrano as the fifth starter?

September 19, 2007  11:01 AM ET

hey come on now i know injuries are takin' their toll on players these days and bartolo colon days probly are comin' to an end, but Zambrano goin' to the angels for Colon that aint workin' i mean if the angels want Zambrano its gonna take major money plus the lost of either Vald or K-Rod, or who knows maybe even both.

September 19, 2007  11:06 AM ET

BearDown...I like your suggestion of Alfonseca....he is a true FREAK of nature...he is comboed with with skinniest arms and the largest pot belly!

September 19, 2007  11:18 AM ET

the TRUTH is in the midst of petitioning MLB to change the Washington ballclub to a refuge for fat baseball players:

truth can be pull mo vaughn out of retirement and have him play 1b for the Fat Squad?

September 19, 2007  11:44 AM ET

And with the 1st pick in the 69th rd of the supplemental fattass draft:

Mo Vaugh to the Nats

September 19, 2007  11:50 AM ET

I would like to see him in the playoffs since Arod has something like 20 HRs off him.

September 19, 2007  12:16 PM ET

goes to show that all employers are the same, this cat put some goods numbers for the angels, until last season when he got hurt.

Now angels won't even have him in the playoff roster! so what if he won't pitch....at least let the guy go the playoffs and be with teammates during a possible world series run.

jerks!

I would love to see him on the Angels playoff roster.
