08:52 AM ET 08.28 | Take it for what it's worth, but the Wizards recently made an obligatory call to the Denver Nuggets to check on the availability of all-star forward Carmelo Anthony, a league source said on Friday. The source added that the Wizards were simply doing their due diligence and that the same phone call was made by "29 teams. Carmelo is pretty good."

Why wouldn't the Lakers and Heat call about Carmelo? Pretty sure they could both put together low ball offers. It doesn't hurt to ask.

Actually, the Heat can't do anything, they only have 2 tradeable players atm, and no 1st-rd picks in our lifetime.

Apparently winning right away isn't priority #1, so he could do worse than going home. I believe the Wiz want a lil seasoning before signing that big-money FA, no need to burn a couple years' worth of big paychecks when the playoffs are a stretch.

If 29 teams called that means two teams dont want him, my opinion the Thunder and Heat dont want him which opens the eyes of everyone else. The Lakers have some pieces to throw at Denver to get him. Artest, and a couple of other people and picks, Orlando could offer Vince Carter Expiring contract and a few picks, the team with the most to give are the Houston Rockets. Kevin Martin, Patrick Patterson and Draft Pick for Melo would work. Both teams would come out decent. Houston would come out great, but Denver would still have enough to remain competitive.

If this is true then it must mean Wizards would unload Arenas for Melo and let John Wall run the show? But would the nuggets want Arenas though? If so they surely would have to find a trade partner for Billups.Decisions decisions.

time to let gilbert go man

we all would like a player like carmelo playing for our team - i'm sure most if not all teams called asking
1. is my team on the list of teams carmelo wants??
2. what do you want for carmelo in return??
becouse you never know what he's worth to " DENVER " in trade unless you ask DENVER -- like buying my 1947 ford pick up for $ 400.00 and it runs good -drove it for 3 years and sold it for $ 3500.00 never even changed the oil -i would never compair carmelo to a car but you never know what the seller (denver) wants untill you ask

No chance. The Wizards have nothing of value to give to the Nuggets.

This is a stupid non-story.

Melo is used to knuckleheads, he's had to play with Jr Smith, so he should be fine with arenas
