04:32 AM ET 08.30 | Manchester United's Sir Alex Ferguson is eyeing a bid for Everton teenager Jack Rodwell. Ferguson is set to offer $15 million plus out-of-favor midfielder Michael Carrick before the transfer window closes Tuesday. Everton is keen to hold on to U-21 England star Rodwell but may find the deal too tempting. Rodwell, 19, is a central midfielder but can also play at center back and has been compared to a young Rio Ferdinand.

Everton could use more cash than players. They could probably hold out for $30 M in the next summer transfer window.

Heard about this at the end of last season but then it quieted down. Would like to see it happen. Plus, United need the roster spot and Carrick won't get regular time this year unless there are injuries.

"MLS's biggest sponsorship just got bigger. Adidas renegotiated last 4 yrs of its deal & extended thru '18 for $200 million plus."

Carrick was never meant to play for Manchester United anyhow. It never seemed right or looked right. Quite a team West Ham would have had thru the years if they had managed to hold on to all their great youngsters from the late 90s: Lampard, Carrick, Joe Cole, Rio Ferdinand...

When I read about how many guys came thru WH, I couldn't help but shake my head in disbelief. That's not even including Defoe at the back end of that run.

Only 4 years are left on the current not (not counting what's left this year)... so if you go from 150 for 10 years, to 200 (the "plus" is probably the balance of this season) for 8, I'd say we're heading in the right direction here... on top of this, a lot of that money is adidas paying the salaries for Generation adidas players... which is why they're allowed to not hit the salary cap.

As a Nike guy, I just hope they put a little more effort into their apparel. The team scarf, for instance, should not look totally identical to every other teams scarf with a different name and color scheme... that's just outright lame.

And please.... please... I beg them to abandon the uncomfortable 3-bands on the shoulder seams... I get it... you bought a company that had 3 stripes and was very recognizable when you were just a little company, so you incorporated it as you got all growns up... but come on, the logo itself is just as recognizable as the Swoosh...

I'm also a Nike guy and I just wanted an open market. I know some teams would stay with adidas (United, NYRB, Columbus, Galaxy while still Beckham-affilated), but I know some teams would be itching to switch away from adidas.

oh, i agree entirely. they only put out like 5 kit templates a season for the league. more variety would surely help.

prob wouldn't hurt the league. it'd be interesting if Portland went Nike, they'd be like the Oregon ducks and have a dif jersey EVERY game ;D

You and me are so >>Here<< right now. If having the stripes are THAT serious, put the stripes on the side so they flow continuous on to the shorts. This is what the guys on Uni Watch call obnoxious logo creep.

They do 5 templates TOTAL for the entire world. I think the only template not currently used in MLS is the one used for Benfica. And whatever isn't already used to set to be unveiled will definitely be used for 2011. MLS seemed to catch the new templates first in odd numbered years (non Euro or WC years) lately.

They would definitely snatch away the highlighter kits from Seattle and make them their own.
