Tebow moves up depth chart

07:59 AM ET 08.30 | Kyle Orton's one-play respite after trying to tackle James Harrison Sunday revealed some hint as to where Tim Tebow may rank in Denver. Orton's backup, Brady Quinn, went in for one play. The Steelers blitzed, Quinn was sacked and the Broncos punted. By the time the Broncos got the ball back, Orton was back in the huddle. Exhale. By the time the night was finished, Tebow, not Quinn, was Orton's backup. At the very least, Tebow's apparent promotion was a surprise. He missed the previous week's preseason game against Detroit with bruised ribs. But McDaniels informed Orton's backups Friday that Tebow would start the second half and play into the fourth quarter, and Quinn would finish. ... McDaniels has always believed Tebow would be ready sooner than most in the NFL thought.

I wouldn't exactly say Tebow is ready... but Quinn sucks.

Tebow spit in some dirt and cleared the scales from McDaniels eyes. U just wait til the 1st game when a dove flies in the stadium and rests on Tebow's helmet. U non-believers will see!

We've all known since the draft that Orton was a place-holder for Tebow, and that Denver made a mistake in signing Dr. Quinn, Medicine-needing Quarterback.
The best thing Denver could do both for themselves and BQ would be to let him get some pre-season snaps. If he looks good, some other team may offer something for him later in the season when their starter goes down and Jeff George forgets to charge his cell phone.
The trouble with this scenario, of course, is that Quinn doesn't look good.

I've got a feeling it will be more like the Book of Job. Tebow's faith will be sorely tested in Denver. That dove will land on Tebow's helmet just long enough to leave a bird's typical gift.

Tebow looked ok last night. Led his team to a few scores and did his part well. Naysayers will be naysayers, but he's going to be a nice pro when his turn comes. He won't be the only first round qb that had to ride the pine his first year or so before they turn 'em loose.

Tebow looked a little ruff...but will do better than anyone else they have.

That sounds right to me. Based on what I am seeing, Quinn is struggling as much if not more with the offense as Tebow, which isn't a good position for an "established" NFL quarterback to be in. It's odd to say it, but any remaining playoff hopes for the Broncos this season (such as they are) rest on Kyle Orton staying healthy.

If Harrison really wants to help his team, he may want to take a run at Dixon in practice. He sure didn't look ready last night.

I finally have to concede. I graduated from highschool with Quinn, so I've obviously seen him play football for quite a long time. I always thought he never got a fair shot in CLE, and I still believe he didnt - he was always in, then out, then back in. So maybe that ruined him mentally or something, but regardless, I am now willing to concede that he sucks and won't ever amount to anything in the NFL.

You got it. And Quinn will never be a useful NFL QB. Not even a back up.

Interesting. But there is definitely something missing. He got more chances than a lot of guys get. When you get that chance, you better make something good happen. He didn't. Tough game.

I believe the Broncos gave Orton $9 million to come back next year. If McDaniels likes Tebow, then Quinn will be traded soon for any future draft pick they can get-or cut.

The Chiefs were terrible last year. That O-line looked like Alpine Lace Swiss cheese. As bad as Denver might look, I can't see them finishing behind KC.
