07:59 AM ET 08.31 | Kevin Durant, Team USA's scoring leader after three games, is coming off a season in which he led the NBA in scoring -- something Andre Iguodala believes we should get used to seeing. "Kevin Durant will be the NBA's all-time leading scorer when it's all said and done," Iguodala said emphatically. "He loves the game and has a knack for putting the ball in the basket." Through three NBA seasons Durant is 33 points shy of 6,000 for his career. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is the league's all-time leader with 38,387 points. Karl Malone is second with 36,928 points, and Michael Jordan is third with 32,292.

Come to LA, Bro.

August 31, 2010  08:16 AM ET

Durant is becoming one of the best scorers in the league and will lead the league again in scoring. Hope Durant stays humble and keeps getting better while strengthening his body to help prevent injuries.

He can hit 3pt shot, so he probably will. I don't think Kareem will care that much, he spent the latter part of his career only getting involved in the offense when teams slowed Magic's fast break.

Hard to envision anyone ever touching Kareem. He played til he was like 62...

i mean Kareem played into his 40s......its going to be awfully tough for anyone to approach his #'s

Plus Durant's numbers will drop as his team gets better. If that doesn't happen they will be medocre for a long time - that's what makes Kareem's feet so special. Back in the day great players battled to put up big numbers while their teams win... these days its by commitee... players want less work and more pay... to hell with their pride and legacy. What's become of our society Lebron?

Great ....Iggy talk ****,...whats next ...Philadelphia will be in the NBA Finals this year ;) ...Durant 3 year total 5,967 vs first three years in Milwaukee for Kareem Abdul-Jabbar 7,779 ....so Durant is only 1,812 points behind in 3 seasons ....and well, Iggy in his career is only at 7,706 points or less then Kareem first three Years!

Shaken not stirred...Everyone has an opinion, so to each its own.

Kevin Durant will not put up KAJ like numbers. He will however have a chance to win a title or two before his career is over.

Won't happen. Jordan led the league in many years but he didn't outscore Kareem. Durant's game will change in time just like Kobe. For durant to get better all around, he needs to sacrifice his scoring.

You're trying too hard to sound profound. Durant can do it. Jordan sat out a few years, dont forget that and kareem played until he was 72.

I wouldnt be surprised if durant leads the league in scoring for the next 10+ years.

Sorry to break it to you but after this season you'll realize that Durant is the best player in the league and will surpass all scoring records. he's a natural scorer and is only getting better. he is the new face of the NBA. it'll be scary if this kid adds 10 to 20 lbs of muscle on him.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Sorry, I just read that Durant, who is an outstanding scorer and one of my favs to watch as wall, was the best player int he league. Someone must be from OK City

Jordan never sacrificed his scoring, if jordan never retired twice and came out a year early from college then he would have challenged the record.. That is one tough record to beat matching Kareen playing 20 yrs in the league.
