Niners going easy on Gore for a reason

08:12 AM ET 09.01 | While Tennessee's Chris Johnson has received most of the 2,000-yard plus hype, Frank Gore may wind up leading the league in rushing. Gore has skipped stealthily under the running back radar but some in football believe it is Gore -- not Johnson or others -- who will end up as the best statistical monster at his position this season. Gore has an injury history -- at times he's been more Gore Vidal than Gore the Bull -- so the 49ers, painfully aware of this, have protected him this preseason as Gore has barely played. ... He's being saved for what the team hopes will be a huge year, and they're probably right.

They ll be OK this year.

This is just more evidence that the NFL needs less a preseason than a 'rookie' summer league.

Gore will be OK, Johnson will be Johnson, Gore I think needs different shoes, at times he slips before being tackled, hope Westbrook is up to the task, Niners gonna surprise ya all

Go Gore, Go! Lead my fantasy team to victory.

September 1, 2010  08:56 AM ET

I predict the 49ers to win the West!
fact: Arizona is a headless chicken (no consistent QB play).
fact: Seattle is rebuilding...althought I do think Whitehurst is a gamer.
fact: Rams are rebuilding.
So...unless they trip on their d*ck, the niners should do well.

Johnson will win the rushing title again this season because the Titans have the best offensive line in the game. He will have to because they sure as hell can't pass the dang ball enough to scare anybody.

oh come on now...don't you want to see HOF'er Mike Singletary succeed! Not a Niners fan, but I know I do...

September 1, 2010  09:14 AM ET

Gore will be nicked up and miss some games, same as every year.

Shhhh...don't give away my fantasy football gem. Gore is supposed to be a secret.

Glen Coffee was the only way the Niners would have a great running game once Gore gets hurt. Now Coffee and Tebow will be feeding an entire stadium full of fans with 2 fishes and 5 loaves of unleavened bread.

I don't get it? So...Coffee is retired, and Tebow plays in Denver...nah, still don't get it?

Coffee is now an apostle of Jesus and Tebow is Jesus 2.0. Dont worry, im sure you were a great athlete in school.

As impossible as it is for me to wish any success for the 49ers, I wish loads of it for Mike Singletary.

How dumb is this article? What team beats up its star RB in the pre season? Tomlinson in his hey day at SD would get one carry in the pre season.

WORD!!
I hate that this division is so weak, but the Niners will get into the payoffs for at least a couple rounds. Gonna surprise a lot of people!

Ray Rice is gonna win the rushing title
