10:20 AM ET 09.02 | Manchester United could have signed Portuguese striker Bebe for a minimal sum of $193,000 earlier this year. Three weeks ago, United manager Sir Alex Ferguson shocked the world by paying $11 million for a 20-year-old player he had never even seen play before. Former Estrela coach Jorge Paxaio told media that the club had offered Bebe to teams all around Europe in January for 150,000 euros in order to raise money, but found no takers.

Alrighty then.... Not sure what to make of this T&R. So Sir Alex is a big Tard.... Fine.... He's a wreckless spender.... Got it. This is as bad as soccernet embellishing Pirlo's quotes... So, SAF is a moron and Italian soccer sucks... Great writing!
Well, Brett and Derek discuss (more sanely) the concerns they have about Bob Bradley getting 4 more years and how it will effect certain players chances of playing for the USMNT--oh, and how Sir Alex is a big dumby and Italian soccer is total crap:

Haha, yeah I saw that the other day. Pirlo says that Italian soccer is lacking "quality," whatever that means. Has to be a bad translation, otherwise Pirlo is just talking out of his rear.
And the same could be said about any transfer really, as with this one (although this one is a bit more pronounced). Timing is everything. For instance, rumors are that Bayern Munich was going to sign VDV yesterday for 18 M Euros, but the deal fell apart and then Spurs get him for around 10 M Euros. Or maybe a player will have a good few months and they are suddenly worth 10 times what they were previously. This isn't really much of a story.

am i correct in understanding that Euro 2012 field will be expanded to 24 teams? so does that mean the top 3 teams from each group qualify for the tourney?

I was thinking more of a 4-3-3 with Holden. The wildcard is Klestjan. The way he is improving, it may be hard not to see him not just back on the roster but in the starting XI. He's our Busquets.

Here's my early print of the 2014 Lineup in 4-3-3
----------------------------Howard--------------------------
Lichaj------------****--------Gale the Boss--------Castillo
-----------------------Edu--------Jones---------------------
----------------------------Bradley-------------------------
Holden----------------------------------Donovan-----------
------------------------Dempsey or Jozy------------------
Now if there is the desire to keep only 1 DM, Holden or Torres could fit beside Bradley and possibly Feilhaber can take that spot open on the wing. Dempsey is now a CF/SS, no more winger for him. I think our strongest lineup would likely be a 4-4-2 with Dempsey and Jozy or Mwanga/LeToux but our midfield should definitely allow some flexibility as long as everybody improves from current form by 4 yrs time.

Because at one point he rocked the Flock Of Seagulls... while I was but a wee lad throughout the 80s, I was smart enough to know people that did that were idiots.

He's 20, and he's not doing horribly down in Dallas. He's a winter camp dude for now. He only gets a serious look if after we win Gold Cup. That's his lot.

That's what I'm saying. He could pass for El Nino if youre drunk at the bar. Well, not anymore since Torres cut the mane.
