08:16 AM ET 09.03 | Even though he's not in camp, Darrelle Revis, whose grandmother recently said the team's treatment of him is "almost like a slap in the face," is part of the Hard Knocks storyline for Rex Ryan. Here's a little piece of information for Ryan and the rest of the New York Jets: If Revis doesn't get a new contract soon, New York doesn't have to worry about the star cornerback showing up. Ever. If the Jets can't bridge the gap between what they are offering Revis and what he believes they promised him at the end of last season, he's not showing up, period. As in ever again.

Good. The Jets look formidable on D... it's their offense that needs to shake a leg...

isn't he still under contract? can't they just start fining him for not showing up for games?

Grandma needs to slap her boy. Maybe explain the "rules" of contract. hahahaha

September 3, 2010  08:28 AM ET

that's right Revis , milk em' for all you're worth....

September 3, 2010  08:29 AM ET

He will sit until about week 10 ... thats when he loses the whole year of seniority in the league.

September 3, 2010  08:33 AM ET

I thought this team would start to self-destruct around week 3 or 4 of the regular season, not the pre-season.

September 3, 2010  08:38 AM ET

Interesting stand off. The guy is really good. The agents should start writing it into everone including undrafted free agents contracts that if the guy suddenly start playing all world ball then the get compensated the following season with a salary more in line with there capabilities. Maybe that would eliminate some of this crap.

Anybody know how much cap space the Browns have....lose the attitude and come to Cleveland. They'd probably throw Brandon McDonald in the deal. Come on Rex, help your brother out in Cleveland.

Contracts are only to be honored by the team, not the player. Maybe the Jets can make Grandma the GM. Let him sit. He'll soon find out that no money at all is even less than the paltry couple of million he's being paid. How can anybody even live on that? Probably got a paper route and mows lawns just to make ends meet. Poor guy.

You would think the gravitional pull from Rex's belly alone would bring him back into the fold.
