Vikes trade Sage to pay Favre?

08:30 AM ET 09.06 | Tarvaris Jackson's salary may have something to do with why he's still in Minnesota. During training camp, [Jackson] had no idea as to his status as a backup quarterback for the Vikings. That's one reason he put his Savage home up for sale for $524,900 this summer. "Downsizing, just in case," said Jackson, whose Vikings contract this season is for $1.1 million. It's a good bet that Sage Rosenfels' $2.6 million salary was among reasons the Vikings traded their other backup QB to the New York Giants for draft picks on Friday. The money saved will help offset the $3 million salary increase the Vikings gave starting QB Brett Favre, who will make $16 million in base pay this season.

Vincent Jackson.

And so if the ankle gives out and Tarvaris doesn't play well, I guess that brings up a major league whoopsie!

I see that Favre has his exit, all worked out...if there's an emergency...like the Queen's stinking.

September 6, 2010  08:48 AM ET

This has all the makings of a tragedy...train wreck...ship sinking...whatever.

They're going to have to figure out Favre is going to throw the ball to. Two wide receivers down and very little to help out. Aaron Rodgers and the Pack could very well get revenge this year.

Well I know they cut Walker, so yeah, they got problems. how many times can you hand off the ball to A.P., without getting him hurt? goody, goody...for all us Packer fans.

It's looking like Packers, Saints, flip-a-coin in the NFC.

I have sympathies for Walker. He was never the same after the Darrent Williams shooting.

For the Saints.

Need to start a pool on how many games Favre will play before he goes down. There is a reason why there are no forty year old football players.

With last year being the exception, Favre *always* has someone to throw the ball to. He's usually not so picky as to what color uniforms they are wearing.

You wish! It ain't happening unless the Vikes give up a #1 or 2 in first round, plus low salary cap

Houshmanzadeh is available and he has been known to catch a few passes.

. . . only when there is someone really good on the other side of the field.

I can't wait for that season-ending hit, and slow disintegration of a team that, once upon a time, had a chance...
