07:57 AM ET 09.08 | Adrian Peterson knows he wears a target each time he carries the ball, due in large part to the number of times he's put it on the ground. Peterson expressed confidence that he has discovered the answer to his issues. "I found out at times by studying myself that when I'm going down, I kind of brace myself with the hand that I'm carrying the ball in and that's leaving opportunities for those guys that are in there scraping and punching for that ball, gives those guys opportunities to make big plays," he said. "I'm a pretty tough guy, so I just [need to] keep the ball high and just fall down. It is instincts, but when that becomes a problem you're able to sit there and say, 'Hey, I've got to eliminate doing this.'"

Something tells me the Viking better run well this year.

Does Lester Hayes have any stick-um left over from his playing days? That guy would cover himself in that stuff. Might work for AP.

Last year they said they worked on his problem dropping ball's and he still did it. whats different this year...nothing.

September 8, 2010  08:16 AM ET

It doesn't seem like his fumbles come when he's falling down, it seems after contact when he swings his arm away from his body to get an extra yard. Guess we'll find out soon enough.

By this time in a players career, you'd think it wouldn't be an issue. Professionals? Yeah right.

That stuff looks disgusting, but if it worked for Hayes, it can work for Peterson too.

Lester Hayes... If ever a dirty player should be in the HOF, it's him.... He was legendary.

He used the stuff so much during his career, that the NFL created the "Lester Hayes Rule" banning the use of Stickum in 1981.

What your saying Dime bag is very true. can you conceive what kind of running back this guy would be if he had learned that lesson. the guy is already top notch. If he had learned that lesson....well, that thought to me, would be frighting.
