Torn ACL leaves murky future for Hazelton

08:26 AM ET 09.08 | University of Cincinnati wide receiver Vidal Hazelton was hoping he'd be OK. As it turned out, Hazelton's optimism only masked the reality. An MRI Monday revealed what Hazelton and the UC coaching staff had feared the most -- that he had torn the ACL in his left knee and would be out for the rest of the season. It was a crushing blow for Hazelton, who transferred to UC from Southern Cal and sat out last year under the NCAA's rules for transfers. Just last week, he talked about how eager he was to play again. "This is my last opportunity so I've got to maximize everything," he said. Hazelton was in his final year of eligibility, but it was unclear Sunday if the injury means the end of his college career or if he could apply for a medical redshirt year.

I do not know you and I do not know much about Hazelton but I hope you do not say this just because he transfered away from a team you support.

Mr. Hazelton I hope you have a speedy recovery and the NCAA gives you a chance to live your dream.

Definitely not karma because he left us. Didn't crack the rotation so he transfered out. Hope he finds his way to a field somewhere.

What no story on Reggie's Heisman trophy? The mighty Cav's are coming to town, will the Reggie story prove to be a distraction for the struggling Trojans, stay tuned.

Van, you are one funny dude! Do you think that, the current players at USC, really give a flying F--- about Reggie and his Heisman trophy that happened five years ago? Also, even if they did took the Heisman away from Reggie, the fact will always remain, that Reggie won the Heisman.

Yes, I like the Saints. I hope they kick the crap out of the Vikes!!

Sorry to hear that. Rough turn of events for the guy. I hope the NCAA grants a medical redshirt, but they haven't given those out in quite a few well-deserving cases lately.

I don't believe he has. We are loaded on the outside. With Baxter making his debut this week, will get even tougher out there for time.

Sorry Van, we win this one by 3 TD's. At least.

People know who Vidal is because of USC, nothing else.

There's a reason the jabronies that leave USC go on to become nothing. Listen up Henderson, you're the next one to become nothing.
