Jags have Tebow to thank for sellout?

07:59 AM ET 09.09 | Welcome back to Jacksonville, hometown hero? This is Tim Tebow. "It's his town, man," said Maurice Jones-Drew, the Jaguars' star running back. "It's going to be exciting for him. Everyone is probably going to try to be at the hotel and see him. Word around here flies around fast where everyone is staying, so my advice to him is get a private room and stay in there the entire night." ... Even the Jaguars, who had just one sellout in 10 home games last year, are expecting their stadium to be filled Sunday. "It is selling out our stadium because he's coming," Jones said.

It's a business isn't it...

When the opponent's backup QB generates more interest than the whole home team, there might be a problem. Seriously, how many people even remembered that Jacksonville has an NFL team? Has one for the moment, anyway.

I met a guy the other day who thought the jags and panthers were the same team.

They've run out of tarps to cover the empty seats.

It is a sad state of affairs when that's the case.

It has a nice ring to it.

Absolutely pathetic. Even the lowly Buccos sell out the Home Opener.

It's pretty sad that this team is not yet in LA. I mean, it's only...you know....completely logical...

So everyone is coming out to watch him sit on a bench. Maybe they are all Nascar fans just hoping for a QB wreck.

Yeah I don't know how much longer they are gonna hold to the faith that they miraculously become relevant in Jacksonville.

I don't see any danger of that Jags pass rush getting to Orton to knock him out of the game. They've spent every high pick the last coupla years on the D-line and so far haven't shown a thing.

LOL!

Every Jag's home game last year was blacked out. The folks in Jaccksonville just don't care about NFL football. The league really should move them to a city that actually wants an NFL franchise.

Now that's good...............and sort of sad.

September 9, 2010  09:04 AM ET

It is just one of the reasons why they drafted him afterall.
