08:01 AM ET 09.09 | Now that Elvis Dumervil's season in Denver has ended because of injury, the Chiefs' Tamba Hali reigns as the premier sack artist in the AFC West. The guy entrusted with blocking Hali and protecting San Diego quarterback Philip Rivers' back in Monday night's season opener between the Chiefs and Chargers came to the NFL in 2008 as an undrafted free agent. He will be making his first pro start at left tackle. That's the kind of matchup that could make an NFL quarterback nervous ...

I think Rivers will be able to... do that trick in the Longest Yard and hit him in the jewels...

Since nobody has said it yet...Elvis has left the building!

DAMN! And who the heck is this guy?

September 9, 2010  08:12 AM ET

Guess we're going to find out just how well the Bolt's rookie running back can help out with pass protection.

I love how it doesn't even tell us who the Chargers tackle is.

Tamba reigns has a nice sound to it and I hope he knocks Rivers around a little bit just because he is such an arrogant puss.

And he would have a chance to play in the post season.

No kidding. I thought the exact same thing. T&R is getting horrible. The crap interns went back to school and know they have temps which they pay $5.65 an hour. Great.

Man SD gives up sort of big money to Merriman who can not salk a barn anymore but they leave rivers open by not signing McNeill who actually made the probowl?

September 9, 2010  11:58 AM ET

P.S. to San Diego

I am sure that the 3.6 to Merriman would go along way for a guy getting your PROBOWL Left Tackle back since your current offer is an insult at 630000 and the prior offer you took off the table was only 3.15 mil that he said he would take back for a one year deal.

The team is handling this very poorly (sign or you are roster exempt so you have to report to become a FA in 2011, etc) and I hope he does get traded or holds out - a freakin Probowl LT is worth his weight in gold, let alone one that is only 26

They are going to keep messing around and lose this guy for whatever petty reason in their minds that justifies not negotiating in line with other linemen of his caliber. There are 31 other teams that would love to have him as the Bolts will find out quickly enough if this charade continues.

"Only if Tamba Hali reigns as the premier sack artist in the AFC West......."

Let me check on this, please.

A new tackle is in town, Brandyn Dombrowski.

September 9, 2010  03:30 PM ET

???He???s got what you want in an offensive lineman,??? Rivers said. ???He???s a guy you want on your side if you???re in a fight. He???s going to fight like crazy for you.???

Well, hell indeed!!!! We need more crazy people around here, baby!!!!
