08:11 AM ET 09.09 | Ron Artest is doing his part for a cause he cares about. Artest finally won a title in June after 11 regular seasons of trying ... and now he's planning to sell the championship ring as a fundraiser to put more psychologists, psychiatrists and therapists in schools. "I'm never going to put it on," he said. Artest plans to soon announce details of what he hopes will become a worldwide auction, and he takes possession of the jewelry in an Oct. 26 pregame ceremony before the Lakers open against the Rockets. It's an incredible gesture. But it's even more meaningful as a statement.

This guy is nuts, man. You'd think that, after that post-game charade, he'd literally store the ring in his **** cavity for the remainder of his life.

Whatever fundraiser he's doing this for should convince him not to do this..... Part of winning the ship is the ring baby..... Keep it son - Never know when you might have to pawn it down the road once your career is over!!

Great cause, but if I am a team mate of this bozo, I would be offended....

How about put up your salary for this cause...yet, instead, you have to sell something the team SHARES for this cause...and for what? Maybe 100k??

It's not like the ring is going to fetch millions of dollars...and to put just ONE of these Doctors in a school, it would take a minimum of 100-200k....

Moron....
