07:57 AM ET 09.10 | Reportedly lasting a couple of minutes, a Ray Lewis rant ripping the Jets sparked a new Week 1 rivalry. Lewis reached a point where he got fed up from all the Super Bowl talk coming from the Jets. This should increase the drama for the Ravens' season opener at the Jets on Monday Night Football. "We're talking about the Jets like we're talking about the Saints," Lewis said. ... Lewis cautioned the Jets, saying their chatter will only take them so far. "The game ain't played through tongues," he said. "The game is played when you buckle up your chin strap. So, all this pressure [Ryan] wants to put on his team, I hope they can cash the check that he writes." Ryan, who was on the Ravens with Lewis for 10 years before becoming the Jets head coach, said it "sounds like we got under Ray's nerves."

I think so too, Chico - gonna come down to which QB handles the pressure better. Somehow I just don't see young Sanchez being that guy.

This one comes down to QB play. The Ravens' secondary is questionable, but can Sanchez exploit it? Can Flacco move the ball against the Jets? Either way, if you're betting on the total points scored you should take the under.

Can't wait to see the Jets start their title defense (Most Hyped Team) by actually playing football.

Sounds right. I don't think Sanchez can handle the pass rush all day and the Raven's should win. If I had to bet (and I don't, but I would with your money) I'd take Baltimore. On the other hand, I don't know if Ryan can sound like a WWE wannabe all season? Maybe so, we'll see.

I didn't want to admit this (go steelers-anti raven/brown/bungle) but the ravens O maybe better than the D for the first time....ever

The Jets just don't have the talent to sustain Ryan's braggadocio. The quarterback is very, very weak and in preseason they were not just beaten, they were manhandled by the opposition.
These guys will have a very, very hard time against talented teams.

the formula can sustain the claim however...low tier qb + top tier D can produce a superbowl...rex has seen it first hand (blasted raven 2000 season) . all sanchez has to do is manage the game, and secure the ball (low int, fumbles) and they'll be in most games....(all this positivity from me for a non-steeler team makes me wanna puke.....Go steelers....better)

Soon and I mean soon Rex is going to have to tuck his tail between his legs and realize he shouldn't write checks his ass can't cash.

I know that Rex Ryan talks his team up as part of his coaching style, motivation, or whatever; but there comes a time when it can be counterproductive. The last thing you want to do as a coach or a team is to wake up and anger a sleeping giant; and Ray Lewis and the Ravens defense is such a giant. Some times caution is a good thing. If the Jets lose, and especially if they are stuffed by the Ravens D, their bubble could burst very quickly.

Good point. Trent Dilfer had a few seasons under his belt and understood his role on the offense as a manager and stuck to the script. Sanchez is entering his second season, and probably still believes he has a lot to prove, which could mean he'll be willing to take more chances. We'll see how that goes for him and the Jets.

No they are not. I seriously doubt they even make the play-offs let alone the Super Bowl. Too many egos and talents past their prime...sounds like the Redskins a few years ago, how did that work out? As for Sanchez he will need to take some monumental steps forward to lead them to the SB and I don't see that happening in only his second year.
