Nets to work Favors in slowly

08:03 AM ET 09.10 | Derrick Favors is looking forward to 2010-11, no matter how gradual his introduction to the league. Yes, the 6-foot-10, 251-pound power forward from Georgia Tech with the hellacious physical skills is prepared to wait his turn despite the lofty selection slot, despite joining a club whose team picture was a chalk outline after just a couple weeks last season. Still, that doesn't mean he can't impact in the minutes he'll get. ... "Coach [Avery] Johnson told me they'd give me time to develop. I don't know what my minutes will be, but I just want to work hard in practice and prove to the coaches they can put their trust in me when they put me out on the court." That trust is big for Favors, who turned 19 in July. Always, he has been a dominant force. Now he will face the very best in the world. He needs confidence. And coaches' trust breeds confidence.

JGB if melo went to NJ...wouldn't a Johnson/Melo conflict emerge and overshadow the team?

How would you feel if we trade you to the Clippers? Don't wish that on anyone.

I say feed him to the wolves.... they aren't a playoff team so get this kid his minutes so he can build his confidence and feel for the NBA game. I really like this kid though... I kinda wish the Sixers took him instead of Turner...

Do him a FAVOR and let him play right off the bat.

Just don't be a bust, Bro.

Just think if they picked him instead of Turner. the Sixers could've pawned Brand off on another team for an expiring contract especially if he ends up playing alot better this season.

I'm w/ you since the Nets are basically rebuilding. Avery should not be playing around w/ his rule of not playing rookies. Let him play and learn from the start. Give him some experience and confidence at the same time....

For a nineteen year old, don't expect much. The second season should tell much more.

It should be interesting to see how he'll turn out. Good luck to him.

He'll seem like a bust compared to Cousins. A few teams are going to be really upset that they passed on him.
