09:07 AM ET 09.11 | The Indians don't have a snowball's chance in you- know-where of making the playoffs this year. But the snowball has a great chance in Progressive Field after the regular season ends. The team is set to roll out a new plan to put Progressive Field to good use during the cold off-season in Cleveland. They're calling it "Snow Days" and the plan is to turn the ballpark into a winter theme park. Instead of sitting vacant for four months, the ballpark will be outfitted with an ice rink that loops around the warning track, a fire pit on the home run porch and -- Tipoff will be first in line for this -- an innertubing hill that descends from the bleachers and onto the field.

Maybe the Indians can learn to play in the snow; it'll give them home field advantage...

Hahahahahahahahahahahaha thats funny. That money is going to go straight into Dolan's babk account. He crabs about losing money on the team.... of course you're going to lose money! You put a crappy product out there, people don't buy it. Simple economics.

Yea, like in 2007 when they were a game away from the world series and ranked 21st in attendance. If we win you will come!!! Oh, wait....

The Cleveland Indians play at Progressive Field? Let them do the "Winter Wonderland bit their; Maybe LBJ might want to stop by and ice skate and have some winter fun...
Still can not believe that LBJ and his wife did not know that the winters in Cleveland were colder than winters in Miami
Dang have I been locked-up to long, the last I remember the Cleveland Indians had opened up a new stadium called Jacobs Field.

Christ!!!! Now LD is going to bleed some money from the people of Cleveland during the winter months too. I hope the "Winter Wonderland" doesn't suck as much as the product he puts on the field April-September.

If that S.O.B puts more into this "Winter Wonderland" than he does the Indians I am going to loose it..........Damn, he really suck!

Sounds like a great idea for other northern cities to consider. Would love to see in Chicago.

September 13, 2010  09:54 AM ET

September 13, 2010  11:52 AM ET

Great idea!! Why not get some use out of it...they make some $$ and people have something to enjoy and a place to go in the winter.

that would be an interesting experiment---to try to provide a winter theme park that reflects fortunes of the ballclub. they should build the two biggest and best tobaggon slides in the world and then trade them for a bunch of kids equipment in need of assembly.
