Parcells' move surprised Dolphins

08:10 AM ET 09.12 | Privately, Dolphins officials were very surprised by the timing of Bill Parcells' move to a consultant role. Owner Stephen Ross has no set plan to give a football job to former Chiefs president Carl Peterson -- who works for Ross on a business project -- but he will be considered if the team flops. Ross has faith in Jeff Ireland and knows Ireland is not to blame for every blunder. (We hear Parcells and quarterback coach David Lee advocated the Pat White pick.)

Well, it's not like they wasted a high value draft pick, like something from the second round, on him. . . oh wait. Crap.

Its going to be interesting to see this unfold. Bailing out right before the beginning of the season is not a good sign for the phins. And bringing in Carl Peterson to replace Parcells is like bringing in Jeff George to replace Peyton Manning.

Ok, maybe this is not the place for this kind of comment, but I feel it has to be addressed. If you're going to wear a yellow shirt, you should wear navy blue or khaki pants. As it is, he's just a few black stripes away from being one hell of a fat bumblebee.

Yellow shirt? I thought it was a school bus.

This is the place alright. But remember, he is wearing the money belt with the $12 million the dolphins gave him under that shirt, so it makes it look worse than it really is.

Got to forgive him on that one. He got there, took one look at Henne, and knew that was not the answer.

Surprised? Why? It was time for him to pick up his tent and find a new gig.

Thanks for the info. And I just thought it was a roll of fat. I think the younger generation calls this the muffin--fat spilling out over the pants like a muffin spills out over the paper wrapper.

It is pretty odd for Bill Parcells to resign so soon to the start of the season like this, but he has made simular moves like this suddenly in the past as well.
Although this latest Parcells decission might seem grim for the Dolphines now; Remember Bill Parcells hand picked Jeff Ireland and has been teaching him the ropes for several years now. Miami will be fine without Parcells and with Jeff Ireland guiding the Fish.

He told his kids that he wanted to go shopping at a big and tall store. They laughed and replied, "You're not tall."

Good one. I've always wondered about that name. Of course, probably not too many people would shop there if it was called "The Fat or Tall Shop."

That yellow shirt is why the rest of the world hates us, you could clothe a family of four in India with that shirt.
