09:01 AM ET 09.12 | If the Mavericks can get off to a good start, it should quiet the vultures that inevitably will question whether Rick Carlisle is on the hot seat this season. Carlisle is entering the third season of his four-year contract. He's been highly respected for his game strategies and adjustments, in spite of the playing-time controversy for Roddy Beaubois in Game 6 of the playoffs last season. It goes back to the fact that the Mavericks have not been happy with the results of the first two seasons under Carlisle, who agrees with that assessment.

He will be hired somewhere else. Although he won't be the first to be fired. Erik Spoelstra will be fired after the first game The Heat lose.

Carlisle is a poor man's Doug Collins. He's never done anything worth mentioning, I would take a chance on the guy who coaches the Russian National Team before I hired him.

QUOTE(#6):

he'll be fine... there's not enough good coaches around. there's only Phil and Pop and the rest are second class.... somebody mentioned about Spo being fired first. I might agree to that or maybe Dumbtonie might get fired...

Rivers, Thibodeau, Larry Brown and Gentry are not second class.
Rivers-Thibodeau outcoached Phil in 2008 and Brown also did it in 2004.
Gentry outcoached Pop last year.

agreed...... dallas is not going to advance much beyond the last few seasons with the current players. and, throwing more dollars at dirk isn't the answer. dirk is a quality player, but he is not going to lead dallas to a championship. he needs a lot more help.

They havn't done anything to improve their current roster's age. They still think they can compete against rising superstars who are making impacts on their franchises, whick is what they need. Kidd is nearly grandpa age, and Dirk isn't getting any younger. They need to look into the future. Look at OKC.
