07:49 AM ET 09.14 | Matthew Stafford did not appreciate the inference. "Not really," he said when it was suggested to him that sustaining three major injuries in 11 games might lead some to call him injury prone. "Those were pretty perfect hits. I just got dropped on my shoulder pretty hard both times. I wouldn't call it injury prone; more like weird, freaky injuries." The only news the Lions and Stafford revealed Monday about the right shoulder injury he suffered at the end of the first half Sunday is that it won't require surgery.

It's too early in his career to tell if he's injury prone.

Ouch.

Lovie Smith must've made a deal with the devil or something.

He knew saving his job after this season was out of the question.

Thus far, he is, "perfect hits" or not. But it's still early.

I wouldnt read entirely too much into yet....YET.

Right now, Stafford lacks the physical ability to even hold a clipboard.

If he hates the "inference", then he hates himself. I think a more accurate word would be "implication". The death of journalism continues.

But that's something he can learn from Leinart...one of the best in the business. Well, he was. LOL!

Leinart would never have become the league's premier clipboard guy with his arm in a sling, though. He was, of course, blessed by never having enough playing time to get hurt.

Seriously, Stafford and the Lions need to think long-term. He wants to play. He's shown that, and he means a lot to the team. But if his shoulder is hurting, putting him back in too soon could mean that he'll never get healthy during the season.
