07:45 AM ET 09.14 | Upon hearing from his players during the team's commute home from Seattle that he may have been a little hard on his team, Mike Singletary decided he needed another meeting with his team. So upon landing in the Bay Area, Singletary told his players to meet up at 49ers headquarters in Santa Clara. "While we were on the plane or while we were on the bus, I heard guys say, 'Coach, that [postgame speech] might have been a little bit too harsh,' or 'I didn't understand what you meant by that,'" Singletary said at his Monday news conference. Singletary decided another meeting was in order, to "get this all ironed out." Quarterback Alex Smith, who was one object of Singletary's locker-room scorn, said the second meeting was a good one.

What's with the title?

September 14, 2010  07:50 AM ET

They get their butts handed to them, then whine at the coach for pointing it out? Priceless.

As long as they keep on letting Alex Smith impersonate a starting QB, the Niners will continue to impersonate a football team.

I wonder how long it will take before the FN interns notice...

If you screw up and make mistakes - I think a little screaming and pointing things out would be expected. Maybe it was disrespectful...

I think that editor is still interviewing the reporter that was tormented by the Jets. I guess the Jets left their game in the locker room. LMAO!!!

And in related news, Ines Sainz has been hired by the Ravens PR department, where she will reportedly earn a seven-figure salary for services rendered.

Seriously. Maybe they all want to re-negotiate their contracts for their stellar performances. Hope the nancyboys didn't have their feelings hurt too bad.

September 14, 2010  08:08 AM ET

What? Did some weenie in the HR department call Mike Singletary and tell him to be gentler and more respective of his players?

They lost. They lost badly, and to a team which isn't expected to be particularly good this year. What's he supposed to say? "That was a good effort. I'm proud of you." No, the team should know that practice will be long and hard this week.

September 14, 2010  08:10 AM ET

The title says it all for the 49ers right now. Mass confusion.

September 14, 2010  08:11 AM ET

"Quarterback Alex Smith, who was one object of Singletary's locker-room scorn, said the second meeting was a good one."

So the 9ers are 1-1 in meetings. Good for them.

Sorry, Ines Sainz will NOT be standing on the Niners' sideline this week, looking hot and inviting. Instead, they'll get Nancy Pelosi, topless in a thong.

Hey, I picked the Niners to win this wimpy division. I've got to do something to shake them up.

I'd rather find a dead horse's head in my bedroom than Nancy Pelosi. If Singletary can't get tough on these guys, I've got to do my best to shake them up.
