Why Bradley went off on ump

Milton Bradley's loss, his loss of temper and the reasons for it are being examined by Major League Baseball. The Padres' first-base coach, Bobby Meacham, said after the game that Bradley had been baited by umpire Mike Winters, calling Winters's words "the most disconcerting conversation I have heard from an umpire to a player" in Meacham's 26 years in baseball. "There's no possible way a man is going to stand there and take what he said to Milton," Meacham told MLB.com. "The boiling point is when he called Milton a name. Milton did not say anything to him to get him to do that."

The ump probably told Milton he sucks at Yahtzee.

Where's your diaper, baby?

September 25, 2007  08:38 AM ET

I'd like to know the context of their conversation.

September 25, 2007  08:40 AM ET

Umps go overboard sometimes. I'm giving Bradley the benefit of the doubt on this one. Perhaps the details will come out eventually...

September 25, 2007  08:41 AM ET

What makes these umps think they are holier than thou?? Most of them are egotistic**** who think they can do and say whatever they want. I hope they find out what Winters said and hold him accountable for it.....

September 25, 2007  08:43 AM ET

Man I finally got **********ed!!!! This was my first time that my language didn't make it thru....

September 25, 2007  08:51 AM ET

Ok, lets look at this incident

1) Milton hurt his ACL from having to be restrained, and is now out for they year
2) He has also hurt a Mike Camerson's hand after stepping on it.

3) If the Padres insult us by calling this an isolated incident they don't deserve to ever win another game.

Milton Bradley is dysfunctional psychopath

September 25, 2007  08:57 AM ET

Dude went off on that Ump because he is a psycho. I mean anger management means nothing to that dude.

To me it's funny.

September 25, 2007  09:11 AM ET

I think we have to know what the Ump said before we pass judgement. What if he called him a "****** ******* ****** *** **** ******* *** ** * *****". You'd be mad too.

September 25, 2007  09:15 AM ET

Dude has Ants In the Pants.

Needs to get a Clue.

Been playing too much Battleship.

Guess Who? Guess Where?

Has a Monopoly on Mr. Mouth and Risk.

That about covers the Milton Bradley gags.

Anger management failed....Milton was required to take anger management sessions when he was with the Tribe.

Besides, talkin' about your feelings NEVER solved anything, he needs to try a more healthy approach like target shooting.

September 25, 2007  09:31 AM ET

I'd be all onboard with calling Milton an idiot.

However, there are a few things about this incident that seem hinky.

The firstbase coach is backing bradley. yeah i know he's a teamate yaddah yaddah yaddah. But the coach didn't say that milton was talking to the ump. The Ump talked at Milton. Milton was minding his own bussiness on first base.

Milton's got a rep for being a hothead. With that said, he has avoided all confrontations, as far as i know, this year. maybe the anger management therapy was working.

The officiating crew had a meeting right before the incident. prior to that Milton disagreed with a few pitch calls at the plate.

Now i know it sounds like I'm pulling out the conspiracy theory here, but with all of that weighed in, it looks like the umps decided to get him tossed and baited him to do it.

Milton Bradley needs an "Operation."

The goofy game for **** doctors.

September 25, 2007  09:38 AM ET

d.o.p.e.y gets censored?

September 25, 2007  09:51 AM ET

It's a cruel, hard world out here in censorship land, brother.

September 25, 2007  09:53 AM ET

what a putz

September 25, 2007  10:04 AM ET

Miltdown is a hot head, but it seems when he blows his stack it's always a real ***hole on the receiving end.

Maybe we should listen to him a bit more, he might be on to something....

September 25, 2007  10:07 AM ET

Regardless of Bradley's reputation and moronic tendency, if Winters made the comment Meachum describes then Winters needs to be tossed from MLB.
There is no room in the game for any type of derogatory remarks from umpires. Just do your job, call the game and call the plays.
Ridiculous.

I cannot believe what I am reading...the whole feckin' world must be mad!

On another note, does anyone else notice that Milton looks strangely similar to Bernie Mac?
