07:40 AM ET 09.15 | A playoff appearance isn't going to heal Mark Teixeira. Teixeira revealed that he has been playing with a broken right pinkie toe for the past two weeks, an injury he suffered on Aug. 31 when he was hit in the foot by a pitch against A's righthander Vin Mazzaro. "I asked the doc when it would be better and he said, 'When the season's over,'" Teixeira said. "It's a broken toe. Unfortunately, it doesn't feel good all day long. It just hurts."

Just increase your "juice" intake. That will grow a new pinkie toe for you.

BFD. Lived with them for years in martial arts. At least you get to protect yours with a shoe.

So now we know what is wrong with him, when will we be informed of what is wrong with Jeter? Either he can't hit anymore or he is hiding an injury.

Right after the playoffs. And there are other options than those two.

i guarantee you that if this was a story about a red sox player, Hoos Your Daddy would've posted something about how tough it is to play through a broken bone and how valiant the red sox player is that he is toughing out for the team...

and how smart theo is for signing him.

Old age. It's funny how the whole steroid/HGH era has ruined that concept. Back in the old days, when a player reached 33+ we expected a gradual (sometimes quick) drop off in numbers. Jeter's now 36. This is what you should expect to see.

I heard that he had a yeast infection from a tampon he left in for too long.

i think about it all the time...and its no different in any sport. a guy with a great career starts to slow and the media, fans all starting ragging on him. its the natural progression of an older athlete.

that is a definate possibility, it is also possible he is just having a down year.
