10:07 AM ET 09.18 | For sale: Prime real estate on the hood of cars driven by former Cup champions Tony Stewart and Jeff Gordon. Corporate sponsors have dried up to the point that Kyle Busch says he may have to fold his truck team next season. Busch could be one-and-done in the low-budget series if a full-time sponsor can't be signed to keep it afloat.

Good job T&R. I mentioned this a couple of hours ago on the Jooonya thread. Didn't realize that Kyle was in the sponsorship mess also. The story on Jeff and Tony was an AP release late last night.

Agreed, especially in Truck. I would imagine the money outlay is much lower in Truck than in Cup or Nationwide. we go a week with nothing, then we get two new stories today. Go figure. Maybe the story teller was on a cruise.

Do us all a favor and just shoot the truck series and put it.. (and us).. out of its misery.. this series has had its run.. its time to end it..

If Kyle is having trouble with sponsorship.. then the other has-been wanna-bees are more than likely having trouble

Tony losing Old Spice was a shock.. theres been talk about DuPont leaving Jeff for a couple of years now.. so no surprise there

Thank you, T&R, for a new story. I sure hope that your office renovation is all done and you can get back to giving us posts on a regular (daily, not weekly) basis.
To the point, why not a limit on spending to reduce costs and draw in sponsors? Yes, there would be cheating, but if you punish the team (suspend for a race) it could be minimized. Tough love may be necessary if NASCAR wants to remain viable.

Agreed. Replace it with more ARCA where I can find it, although they show the reruns, yipee

You know somethings wrong if Tony and Jeff can't find sponsors.

What can Dupont really gain from the millions of dollars in sponsorship of Jeff? When Gordon first came in the sport he had Dupont Automotive Paint as his sponsor. That made sense with paint, cars and racing. Other than the paint (which new fans may not know about) and some of the construction materials (only because I've seen it on new houses), what else does Dupont make? Maybe it's just bad marketing by Dupont for not stating who they are and what they do in the sponsorship of the 24 car.

Why not? What true blood American company wants to display their logos on the side of a nippon product ...

And another item -- his imagine is not the greatest ... he is his own worst enemy. Just because he is a very talented driver does not mean he is real smart ...

i thought kyle busch funds his truck team with his sprint cup winnings? isnt that what one of you was trying to say?

This comment has always amazed me...... I consider the worst ... Can you justify or explain why you say that? BTW Bold sucks!

i agree on the bold part..

personally, i like the way the truck racers beat and bang and let it all hang out.. you dont really see that in cup anymore (unless its a short track or road course)

there has only been a couple of truck races this year that have sucked, imo

With the economy continuing to tank, and it's not looking to improve anytime soon, it's no wonder sponsorship is drying up.

Remember Kyle Truck team lost the Miccosukee Indians sponorship right before Daytona. ...also Phoenix racing #09 in CUP did also.

Tony well Old Spice, that is own by Proctor & Gamble

It's not always about marketing to consumers. It's about marketing to businesses, providing perks to employees and business partners and business customers, and brand recognition.
