09:31 AM ET 09.19 | Arian Foster's stock was high going into his senior season because he had rushed for 1,231 yards as a junior on a team that went 10-4. But everything changed in 2008, when the Vols were supposed to be contenders for the national title. Foster was forced to share carries with Montario Hardesty and others. His blocking was substandard, he had ball security issues and he gained only 597 yards. The team fell apart, going 5-7 and getting coach Philip Fulmer fired. The Tennessee coaches didn't offer glowing recommendations for Foster to NFL scouts. The book on him: hard to coach and selfish.

On some of those plays, it looked like the Colts D simply gave up.

He shouldn't have been mentored by Fat Albert.

It could be science fiction where alien heads pop out of his chest....but I digress

Foster had trouble holding onto the ball in college and was known to be difficult but never really caused any major distractions. He was injury prone and I suspect that is why he wasn't drafted.

Redskins are gonna wish he were drafted... by someone else today.

September 19, 2010  10:19 AM ET

Tennessee has a proven track record in producing good RB's. Foster not being drafted means low pay. If he continues to perform, you have to wonder what the Texans will do.

that's the problem with labeling... it's subjective, and remains with the labeled, even if they go somewhere else... I know, I'm a classroom teacher and I've seen many a young student affected by it...

Phil Fulmer needs to move on... the grumblings on CBS were sour grapes... and Lane Kiffin, love him or hate him, did a pretty decent job with Jonathan Crompton, Mr. Fulmer...

Phil whining that a 20 year old cost you your job is not going to win you any interviews soon

September 19, 2010  11:49 AM ET

Getting arrested your senior year and being known for putting the ball on the ground usually move you back on the draft boards also

Yes he did. Remarkable in fact. Fulmer's act had grown thin several years before he was sent packing and now he can't seem to find work. What does that tell us?

Note to Tony Sparano
When running the wildcat faking or running the reverse will not work when there are 4 backs between the tackles .Just ain't gonna happen

Agree with you Stu; it sure did look like that the Colts Defense did give up on several of the Foster's runs.
