Is Richt a loss away from hot seat?

09:53 AM ET 09.19 | What happens if Georgia doesn't win against Mississippi State in Starkville? Nothing much, I submit, but I'm willing to concede I might be in the distinct minority. Opening the SEC season 0-3 hasn't happened under Mark Richt -- to be accurate, the Bulldogs have never before been 0-2 in league play under Richt -- would loose all manner of outcry from the masses. Greg McGarity, the new AD, wouldn't join the chorus, but even a new AD couldn't help but note the furor.

He is already feeling the heat! Made the UGA fans feel entitled with his run of success.

That was a big win for Arkansas... still the call for unsportsmanlike conduct on the Arkansas receiver, after a late hit on an overthrown ball, and the db stands over him like he made a great game-turning play? SEC officiating at its finest, clearly every home team in the SEC has striped extra players on the field... Mallett sure shut up that home crowd with pitch and catch to Childs... reminded me of Leinart and Jarrett...

Umm, whatever. Go look to the ACC for truly horrible refs.

no matter what happens this year Richt will have one more year at least. If there are no improvements next year he'll get the boot.

Yes, Richt has done great things for UGA's program but there is no denying that they have been slipping ever since 2006 when VanGorder left. Richt had a good team by the end of 2007 when they beat the snot out of Hawaii (but lost to SC and UT and a last second field goal away from losing to Vandy) and I believe that was mostly on the talent of a few inidivduals that are now in the NFL. 2008 was a giant let-down as that was supposed to be the year all the stars aligned with Stafford, Moreno, AJ Green - and the team fell flat on their faces vs the Gators, Bama, and GT - mostly becasue the defense was horrible (although Bobo hasnt looked like a talented OC ever). Richt revamped his defense one or even two years too late IMO now there's no way Grantham doesnt at least get two years to show what he can do (as he should). Bobo will be Richt's demise IMO becasue he's not going to fire him. He might consider demoiting Bobo back to just QB coach again (if he'd take it) but the problem is how do you get a big-time talented OC when the perception is that Richt's program is a sinking ship? I know I'm speaking from a state of 'the morning after' a tough loss but this is going to be a loooooong year for Dawgs fans.

The bright sopt, I like Murray. He's young, he';s making mistakes as young guys do....but he's got a lot of potential and heart and a bigger arm than I thought.

fire him... then he can come to boulder...

Pitiful; flummoxed your entire post. No fan of any PAC team can through stones about "homer" officials.

A win in Jacksonville, and all will be forgiven.

not sure what you're whining about - arky won didnt they? Besides, there was a blatant no-call hold on the screen pass that set Arky up for a TD - that was on 3rd down. That screwed UGA too. Bad calls happen. I'm still sick over the one from last year when AJ got flagged for excessive celebration vs LSU (he looked at the crowd and folded his arms) - and that was in Athens. So, there goes your conspiracy theory. Better make a new tin foil hat.

Aluminum foil. "Tin" is mine.

Year after year Richt can turn a 10-2 team into 8-4. It's bad when the TV analysts start questioning your coaching ability, which they have done for the last two games.

How true FJJ, Georgia firering Richt would be pretty silly at this point

I don't know about conspiracy theories but I do know Hog fans won't soon forget the terrible calls in Gainesville last year. The ref admitted he blew some calls and I think the crew got suspended over that game. However, I think it is every conference. Who could ever forget the Oregon scam when they played OU?

As a Dawg fan you don't need to get rid of Richt. He is a very, very good coach. They are just rebuidling, have patience.
