Heard County (Ga.) running back Dontavius Jackson confirmed that Penn State has been eliminated from the short list of colleges he has under consideration. "I'm still considering LSU, Alabama, Georgia and Clemson," he said. Jackson is scheduled to be at Sanford Stadium on Saturday when Georgia hosts Ole Miss. He'll travel to Baton Rouge on Oct. 6. "And I've got to set up a visit with Alabama," said Jackson, who intends to commit in late October.

Why would he want to go to Penn St? Their offense requires you to fumble the ball...at least I hope that's on purpose?

September 27, 2007  08:51 AM ET

Does it really matter? When we do get top recruits on offense, they never turn into the superstars that they are expected to become (i.e. Morelli, Williams, Scott). Maybe it's Galen Hall's offense or just bad preparation, but they just don't pan out anymore....

Our offense lacks creativity and he's probably turned off because he knows he wouldn't play much his first 2 or 3 years b/c of Joepa's seniority system. Larry Johnson is a perfect example. He's a stud, his dad is an assistant coach, and he was a non-factor until his senior year.

Also, this kid is not Italian..that has GOT to be the only reason Paterno keeps that numchuk Moreli in

September 27, 2007  09:18 AM ET

I'm guessing Penn State was too far away from home.

September 27, 2007  10:05 AM ET

I would much rather play for an SEC team, than an old fossil in the big 11. Penn st is a perinenal loser...

Dont believe me ask Michigan if they are.

Last 7 years in a head to head matchup-BIg 10-32 wins SEC-9 wins

I can see this kid going to Clemson. I know nothing about him, but Clemson does like to run the ball and James Davis could leave early for the NFL this season leaving some carries for him as a true freshman.

Even if he redshirts next season it would still work out well for him, because Davis would be gone as a senior and Spiller could leave early as a junior.

He doesn't want to have to sweep out Beaver Stadium after a loss.

That pic of Joe Pa is hilarious.

September 27, 2007  07:46 PM ET

joe pa needs to retire ...for real...come on...all respect and love but ....come on

September 27, 2007  09:47 PM ET

Come to USC... oh.. I forgot.....he probably won't even make the cut.

September 29, 2007  09:44 AM ET

tigator, trust me, neither the SEC or the Big 11 want you. As for Jackson, as a Penn State fan, I wish you the best.

September 30, 2007  07:44 PM ET

The SEC leads the Big Ten with a 63-45-2 all-time record.
The SEC has a .582 winning percentage versus the Big Ten.

those are the facts my friend.

I think, after a certain age, you should only be shouting when you cant hear what they say on TV...

Must have great lungs...

Maybe he realized the academic standards were too high. I mean come on what are the graduations rates for any school in the SEC 10%, 15%...

November 1, 2007  11:59 PM ET

For a top football prospect all that matters are graduation rates to the NFL.

I'm not trying to compare PSU's NFL picks to SEC teams NFL picks, either.

I just think that college football is nothing but a "farm-league" for the NFL for top recruits -- and I don't find that a problem. Why should a great football player be required to get a college education? Let him go pro make his millions and then he can go back to college if he cares to.
