After flying to North Carolina for a second opinion on his serious sprained right ankle, Plaxico Burress returned yesterday with the same prognosis. He's sore, and will be for weeks, but he plans to start Sunday night against NFC East rival Philadelphia and keep playing right through the pain, as long as it takes.

Great, news directed solely towards Fantasy Geeks (you know who you are).

lets see if said self appointed leader of the NYG offense can do a gut check and make something happen this weekend

I know I got real sore watching him drop those passes in the first half last week. Still do not know why Shockey cannot hang on to a pass.

Go! Go! Go! Plaxico! Never mind the pain. You can play through it! (DC)

I can relate. I got a paper-cut yesterday, but I totally kept pretending to work while I surfed the internet.

What in sam hell are you talking about "he can't hold onto a pass" Shockey has more completions than anyone else on the team except for Burress...and say what you want about the pro bowl but I don't see plax making any of those....Shockey on the other hand...

September 28, 2007  10:04 AM ET

No sweat off my back.

September 28, 2007  10:33 AM ET

Shockey does drop passes orange. And Shockey and Burress both have 15 receptions....should check the stat lines next time.

Agent0range |.......Yes he does have the most catches, AND the most drops. Watch the games, if you tape them, then go back and loooook. I want Shockey to be great too, but he has not reached that level yet. The pro Bowl is as much about hype and names as it is about performance...Once named, they give it to you even when others have out performed you.... Shockey has been an under used weapon for his whole carreer, to this point he is good, but he is No Bavarro. He is the fifth or sixth best tight end in the game right now, which is not bad, but not pro bowl material.

At least he's sending the right message now. He's taking a step back from his selfish reputation and showing that he may have grown up a bit, as far as I am concerned - before, I never would have believed that he would be willing to play hurt. Hopefully this is a sign of what's to come from this guy

Ok, maybe he does have the most drops. I can't seem to find anyone who lists his completion percentage amongst his career stats...

Him being 5th or 6th in the league is debatable...Gates and Gonzales are the primary weapons on those teams in the passing game so it's no wonder they have higher game stats. What goes unsung are his skills during running plays and the passion with which he plays....sure, some of it might be hype but I don't think that plays a definative role in probowl selection. You have to look at what he contributes to the team, not how he compares to other players on different teams with different schemes and plays, not to mention the other talent on the team...

After what the Eagles did to Detroit last week, if Burress is not 100% it could get ugly.

September 28, 2007  07:19 PM ET

LMFAO @ Fungushnitzel comments!

Ah but seriously. He better play through the pain...hes about the only key weapon the Giants have right now.

Shockey and Toomer need to step it up.

September 28, 2007  08:33 PM ET

Agent0range ...All good points and true. Personally, I think the offensive coaches have not used him properly until now with Gilbride. Tiki was used too many times on third down at Shockeys expense. 43% of all plays were ran through him, tooooo many I always thought. IF he plays healthy this year, he will surpass any and all of his records for a season.

Plexi is such a damn drama queen. Every week he's injuring some part of his body, and then playing through pain and adversity.

Gimme a break man.....did you see Brett Favre whining when he injured his damn throwing Thumb the whole season a few years ago? Hell no.....

Just shut up, and catch balls.
