The surf thunders ashore in La Jolla, Calif. where Hank Hendricks, Doug Flutie's close friend and protege, allegedly helped four assailants leave a man, beaten and bloodied, for dead. Their families are so close that after Flutie helped Hendricks secure a football scholarship at New Hampshire - and Flutie left the Chargers for the Patriots - the Hendrickses relocated to Flutie's hometown of Natick, Mass. There, Hank's younger brother, Nick, enrolled at Natick High School with his girlfriend, Alexa, Flutie's daughter. "I would be very proud if Hank were my son," Flutie said.

Weird story.

This guy obviously didn't learn that you can't kill somebody until you're in the NFL (Ray Lewis) or retired from the NFL (O.J.). There's no TV ratings or notoriety for an attorney to defend a QB from New Hampshire.

This just in. Rae Carruth is dating Fluties daughter.

September 28, 2007  09:35 AM ET

I wonder if Flutie said the "I'd be proud to be his dad" thing before or after the guy savagely beat someone to death.

I guess Flutie picked up the bad rep in New England. Cheating, Drug Using, Cheap Hitting, Murdering Patriots. Give it 6 months and Brady will be dogfighting.
