07:42 AM ET 09.22 | Antrel Rolle wasn't shy in talking about the Giants' lackluster MNF showing. [Rolle] came out firing in an interview on WFAN [Tuesday], criticizing the coaches for both the overly "controlled" environment they've created and for giving the Giants far too much downtime before the game. The result, he said, was a locker room full of players "just sitting around, being lackadaisical." It was no wonder, then, they came out so flat. ... "Things have to change. If you want a winning team. If you want a team that has a competitive attitude and to have that dog mentality sometimes you have to let that team be a dog. Everything can't be controlled. And right now everything is controlled within this organization. Everything is controlled."

It's been a staple in the Giants franchise for a while. The Strahan years brought it on.

It is the Giants way, and it is not going to change. From the Maras to Reese to Coughlin to the next coach.

"Regardless of what you see, someone else is making me suck."

???That definitely shouldn???t be the case,??? he said. ???I saw some things that I wasn???t too fond of in that locker room. I felt like there was no one that stepped up to the plate when the opportunity presented itself.

Welcome to the Giants

It's funny how that controlled, disciplined approach was fine when they were winning, isn't it?

September 22, 2010  08:00 AM ET

I blame the OTs for a complete lack of control of Mathis and Freeney as the biggest problem sunday night. but hey, I could be wrong .

Everything is is always good when you're winning.

Giants were simply outplayed by the Colts, but they did look clueless in the process. Inexplicable offensive game plan - failed to control the ball and let the Colts' offense on the field too much. Regardless of the amount of control that the coaching staff exerts, somehow they need to start playing with more emotion, and I think that's what Rolle is talking about.

He, let up, will ya, Coach?

Maybe let the guys go out to a club, and take along a little "protection," just in case, ya know? No holsters, just keep it in your sweats.

Too many guys in the NFL who never grew up.

Antrel Rolle... an expert on winning teams and formulas for winning teams.

I like it!

No your not, I agree with you.

That's better than paying child support to every groupie who comes along.

Rolle may have a point about the coaches as that six DB gameplan obviously did not work. However, I think Rolle should've expressed his frustrations to the coaching staff instead of to the media. Crying to the media doesn't make things better.

I'm going to listen to this interview and come back with actual thoughts....how about that.

Please do and when I get to work I'll see if the interns are fanning the flames again.

So far sounds like a typical interview. When the media presses for answers, the guy is going to answer. So saying "Crying to the media doesn't make things better" is not a fair assessment.

Peyton Manning is known to have this effect on defensive players and coaches....

At some point, soon, Fewell has to decide what that defense is. How do you show up with a 4-3 and only two DTs on your game day roster and your best LB, Bullock, on the sideline most of the game?
It is an old song, but true. You start by being able to stop the run and go from there. He is right on that account.

Exactly, but you know how posters here are.
