Demetrius Jones has landed. The former Notre Dame quarterback's courtship with Northern Illinois is over. He has enrolled at the University of Cincinnati and will be eligible to play next fall. The Cincinnati Enquirer reported Jones will have to pay his own way for the fall quarter because the program has no scholarships available. He will be eligible to play in the fall of 2008 and will have three seasons remaining.

3 schools in one year. Wow. I wish him the best.

September 28, 2007  09:26 AM ET

No....NO!!!!!!!! Why Cinci why?

September 28, 2007  09:34 AM ET

Didn't this paper also report that he had to be enrolled in school like 2 weeks ago? I guess when you're an athlete you can just show up to any school whenever you want.

September 28, 2007  09:52 AM ET

He should have a shot at starting and transferring to Cincinnati has worked out for Ben Mauk.

September 28, 2007  09:54 AM ET

Cincinnati did not start classes until September 19th. Jones had 12 days after that date to enroll. That's the way it is for all students, not just athletes.

I hope this works out well for the kid.

I hate that kid

Q: If Jones is so bad that Weis benched him in a dismal year, why did ND not want him playing for a school on their schedule?

A: Because they didn't want the embarrassment of him coming back and beating 'em. ND is so bad, they're worried about a forthcoming Northern Illinois game. I hope Jones becomes an All-American.

Jones will probably do better at Cincy b/c Cincy is up and coming while NIU isn't. Whether he'll do better at Cincy than ND is another question. I would think so b/c he'd get more consistent playing time at Cincy.

September 28, 2007  02:58 PM ET

Cincy will depend on how long Coach Kelly stays.

Look at what has happened at CMU since he left after last regular season. they got BLOWN OUT at home by NDSU 44-14.

Coach Kelly is a great football coach, but unless Cincy gets the right person to follow him they won't see national rankings for another 30 years.

Hello...ND? With fans like IrishR#1: Rudy, np wonder you're in such bad shape. Reading is fundamental. He's only been enrolled in TWO schools, and like the kid heading back to TX, he is TRANSFERRING. Maybe Charlie and the rest of the ND staff have reading skills like this kid.

I wonder what Ty Willingham thinks about this...

Watching the Domers implode is nothing short of entertaining. Good luck to DJ at Cinci.

September 28, 2007  09:07 PM ET

Wow, ND afraid of Northern Illinois....I'm embarrassed by and for Notre Dame. This surely is a sign of the coming apocalypse....

September 29, 2007  09:37 AM ET

That's what happens when you promise a recruit the starting quarterback job. No loyalty to returning players. May help recruiting but tears your team apart. ND is learning that the hard way.

Well, it looks like Clausen just lost his job today....
