Colletti would like Torre's focus on Dodgers

07:57 AM ET 09.22 | Joe Torre's media tour in New York didn't go as he might have hoped in the court of public opinion. New York newspaper quotes and radio snippets made it sound as if Torre was there a day earlier soliciting the job as Mets' manager. Isn't he still the Dodgers manager? The Dodgers aren't good enough for him? What does that say to Dodgers fans? ... "Shouldn't Frank McCourt fire you for going after another job while still employed here?" "That's their prerogative," Torre said, and by "their," he must believe both Frank and Jamie own the Dodgers. That will surely get him fired. "To me, he hasn't violated his contract," said Dodgers GM Ned Colletti. "What he wants to do after his contract expires is his business. Would I like his focus to be on our club for the last number of games? Yes."

Focus on what? That team has the best distraction excuse ever, an owner fight and a lame duck manager looking for a new job.

Having the NY Post say Torre's interested in the Mets job only to have him deny it isn't exactly looking for another job. Going to the monument ceremony for Steinbrenner, who gave him a chance and a championship team when no one else would also isn't looking for another job. It was Hal Stienbrenner and Cashman that offered him the one year deal he declined, not George.
Is anyone complaining that Mattingly went to the ceremony too?

Torre just said he'd listen to offers this offseason.

I might as well. You know, it really pisses me off that Don Mattingly went to that Steinbrenner ceremony thing-a-ma-bob. I mean, he's not a Yankee anymore, he's a mother **** Dodger and this just goes to show that whatever color the blood that courses through his veins is, it certainly isn't Dodger-Blue, God damnit.

Could you be a little less obtuse?

That's nasty. The kid's 13-months now, so the days of having titmilk in the fridge are over. For now.

13 months? Wow. Time to get working on the next one. Get that third testicle warmed up...

September 22, 2010  09:56 AM ET

It doesn't matter if he's managing the Red Sox, he's still a Yankee just like it didn't matter what uniform Yogi wore. Mattingly's not wearing #23 because he wore it as a Yankee and he's wearing #8 in honor of Yogi.
I'm sure there's Indian players that will always be Indians. Sure most of them are in their 80's but they're probably out there
