07:57 AM ET 09.23 | With Reggie Bush out, free agent rookie Chris Ivory is reportedly in the mix at running back in New Orleans. Or would be, in theory, if he wasn't recovering from a knee injury he suffered against Tennessee in the team's final preseason game. Payton said Ivory was limited at practice Wednesday, but he hinted the back may not be on the inactive list, as he was for the team's first two games, when the Falcons come to the Superdome this Sunday.

What happened to Betts? Wasn't that a big story on FN yesterday?

So the theoretical replacement for Bush has a knee problem. That certainly fixes that problem.

Teamed together they may be a pretty good running back.

When I saw the title of the thread, my first thought was that Eddie Lee Ivory is a bit old for a comeback.
After reading the article, that thought was replaced by the proverbial "Who???"

Chris Ivory was excellent in training camp and in the limited preseason action that he saw this offseason, so let's hope that his strained knee is fully healed and that his efforts so far can translate to the regular season where it counts. The signing of Ladell Betts was added insurance at the position so that they can alternate Ivory and Betts in relief of a more-than-normally featured Pierre Thomas out of the backfield. Don't the people making comments here at FanNation know anything about Saints football at all?

NO, we enjoy the teams with a greater degree of dysfunctionality (i.e. Eagles, Cowboys, Redskins, Giants, Chargers, Browns, etc.).

I can guarantee you the Saints aren't going to be calling on Larry Johnson, ever.

Good... because he has nothing they need.
Think Pierre Thomas can carry the load for awhile? Because he's going to have to...

The Saints will miss Reggie Bush in that offense about as much as they missed Lance Moore last year.
