08:17 AM ET 09.23 | Magglio Ordonez isn't talking, but his teammates can do some talking for him. Ordonez has pulled a vanishing act from Comerica Park since his season-ending ankle surgery a month ago, but he's kept in touch through teammates such as Miguel Cabrera. And Cabrera told reporters on Wednesday that his good friend and veteran hitter wants to be back next season, even if he ends up a free agent this winter. ... "He wants to come back next year here. He wants to stay here." Whether the Tigers' front office feels the same remains to be seen, and it represents one of the biggest decisions they have to make this offseason.

What do you want him to do ...work from home? Let the guy heal his friggin season is OVER!

September 23, 2010  09:30 AM ET

He can still play the game at a high level. He will be playing somewhere and playing well.

September 23, 2010  09:41 AM ET

He will play somewhere.i think someone else will sign him.the Tigers may view him as an injury risk. He will play somewhere else injury free. It happens.

Enough about Magglio, I want to see Rey Ordonez return to the Mets. They need someone with legitimate warning track power.

If I were the Tigers GM first I would fire Leyland. Then I would buy out Guillen. Then I would sign Maggs to an incentive laden 1 year contract to be the Tigers full time DH next season. But thats just me.

For once...
I actually agree with this statement...

Fire Leyland...
Hire Gibby!

I think that he'll be back, and at a reasonable price. He can still hit enought to offer some protection to Cabrera, and he's a fan favorite. If your bring him back, you pretty much have to cut Guillen. Make Magglio the full time DH, with 20-30 games in right field to give guys a rest.

September 23, 2010  02:59 PM ET

He will probably want too much, so the Tigers will balk on the deal. He will be wearnig a new jersey next year.

September 23, 2010  10:14 PM ET

well i dont think they want him

September 23, 2010  10:14 PM ET

so thats too bad for him

September 24, 2010  01:18 PM ET

Providing Magg's injury heals properly, the Tigers must resign him. For anybody in their right mind, do you want (utility, poor fielding) Ryan Rayburn hitting third, or do you want Magglio? Not too hard to do the math on this one. The Tigers line up without Magglio is pretty weak, especially when you consider Cabrera received 31 intentional walks. The Tigers also need a bona-fide hitter in the #5 slot which will reduce Cabrera's intentional walks. Then the Tigers can contend, at least for the Central Division.
