08:28 AM ET 09.23 | It wasn't quite the morning headline Pens fans would like to see after their exhibition opener. Penguins center Sidney Crosby made an early exit from the Penguins' preseason opener at Consol Energy Center, and team officials said Crosby injured a hip flexor. ... Crosby played 12:28 in the first two periods and registered six shots on goal. Players have complained of the poor ice during training camp at Consol Energy Center, though it is unknown if that contributed to the injury.

It's actually fall now but a I understand your confusion, the Browns haven't started playing yet.

No cup holders and now bad ice. I'm beginning to see a pattern.

"The injury is not expected to be serious."

That and he scored a goal and had an assist.

My God! Congressional hearings are next. (It's not like they have anything better to do!). Let's see, taxpayer subsidized cup holders and imported ice from Canada....it could work. :-)

I'm beginning to notice a cruel streak. Not nice.............but accurate.

Good idea on the imported ice. Obviously, they lost the recipe in Pittsburgh.

Slappy, if you're just beginning to notice a cruel streak....you haven't been paying very close attention. :-)

Should they tear down the building and make a new one or are we all OK here?

what are you talking about.

There are cup holders there.

Also, there have been a bunch of non hockey events at the arena, once the season starts the ice will be more consistent.

Are you refering to a pattern of complaining? It is Pittsburgh after all, after a few weeks everyone will start crying "the igloo is better we should have stayed there, it has history"

Typical attitude here...Not all the seats have cupholders though.

I never claimed to be fast.................but I'm gonna keep analyzing this stuff for another year or so before I make a decision! BTW, I'm in Cleveland now so that Browns comment was really on target. You'd think some horrific disaster had taken place after Sunday's game. I guess it's just the cumulative effect of everythinbg sports-wise this year..............LeBoob leaving, the Tribe not doing anything, the browns?...........enough said. I hope things get better. The folks up here deserve more.

Ha HA!! Damn! Why didn't they stay in the Dump?

September 23, 2010  10:08 AM ET

First pre-season game, new building, bunch of non-hockey events already at the CEC, 80 plus degrees in the Burgh yesterday..go figure the ice isn't in pristine condition yet.

Sid said it was nothing serious so no worries form this fan.

No cup holders ? No problem get your wife or girlfriend to hold you drink

Have you been to the new arena yet? If so, how do you rate it? I agree that a "story" about bad ice in game one with the temp outside 80 + is stretching it more than a little.

Sob! OK, that's enough self-pity. I'm gonna mow the lawn now. At least the grass (weeds) still needs attention. (more sobbing). Going to the Indians game tonight, me and about 14 other kids on the short bus. (hysterical sobbing).

Certainly, the main concern is the ice. That's what really will cause an injury, not things like Orpik kneeing someone (in the preseason mind you) and injuring Franzen. Preseason. You gotta be f@#@$ing kidding me.
