08:22 AM ET 09.23 | Former Kansas University head coach Mark Mangino is reportedly back in football. [An ABC affiliate in Minneapolis] is reporting that Mangino had been hired as a consultant to University of Minnesota football coach Tim Brewster. Several Minnesota media outlets reported over the weekend that Mangino was on the Gophers' sideline during their loss to USC last Saturday.

You don't really have to look over your shoulder to see Mangino. You know he's nearby because the sun has been eclipsed.

Brewster should be looking over his shoulder. This program has taken several steps backwards. Barely beat Tennessee Tech and lose to South Dakota? Yeah they played USC kind of tough but that's more a reflection on USC taking Minnesota lightly than it is an indication of Minnesota being any good.

Or maybe just a reflection of USC period?

<gasp>

If they really wanted him to help the Minnesota Golden Gophers, they would have asked him to eat the Trojans. "Consulting" won't help that much, I'm guessing.

Maybe Tim's motivational spin on T-Rex is to instill in his players the fear of being eaten by the angry fat man.

The Fat Man is back! Any sightings of coach Mike Leach lately?

September 23, 2010  10:37 AM ET

I don't get this. If you think your coach isn't getting it done, fire him. Having a consultant - has that ever worked?

"Mangino was on the Gophers' sideline " If he was on the sideling, then he IS the sideline.

Tim Brewster ought to be fired! They lost to South Dakota "Girls school for the Blind". Seriously, this is program is an absolute mess.

They removed a couple of rows from the stands so that Mangino would have enough room to avoid inadvertantly getting flagged for being on the field during play.

If Mangino eats Brewster, Do they still have to pay his buy-out?

Good question. I think that would involve a " Bowel Game."
