Tennessee basketball coach Bruce Pearl said Friday he was "disappointed," following reports that marijuana was found in the dorm room of standout forward Duke Crews this week. A dorm supervisor found one small bag of marijuana in a shoe underneath a couch and one small bag of marijuana in the top dresser drawer of a front bedroom, according to the police report. Marijuana residue also was found in the lid of an air freshener, the report states.

What was the dorm supervisor doing looking in his shoe?

September 29, 2007  09:10 AM ET

It sounds like his RA tossed his room like it was a prison cell. WTF?

Can college athletes not give up weed for a free education for just 4 years? Come on get with the program and act like adults....who do NOT use marijuana.

Well, I'm sure the RA just made himself the most unpopular guy on campus. Bad move for your social life, pal. But the guy was smokin' in his room, and making noise, soooo...I mean, go for a drive, or a walk, or something.

Hookem,
I try to steer clear of political debates on here, but c'mon now. Adults don't smoke every now and then? I guess adults drink, though, since alcohol is soooo much healthier?

September 29, 2007  09:14 PM ET

Yeah you can still be locked up for it though so keep smoking, boys in blue will catch you sooner or later. Oh and Aces,.....Drinking is legal. And you should save this Conversation untill your an adult.

I don't know the legalities but wouldn't a dorm sup need a reason to go snooping to that extent. What is he a Barney Fife wannabe, lol? But seriously if you are a college athlete you shouldn't be putting anything into your body that's not going to reap some benefit. I'm pretty sure Mary Jane ain't without shame in that regard.

Seize the moment, Crews. If you gotta do it, wait til you finish your college career...but I'd encourage you to give it up because if you're like me you don't need to be killing any more brain cells, we need all we can get. ; D

A basketball player that smokes weed! I am shocked I tell you, shocked I am.
Could you pass that over here?

September 30, 2007  07:26 AM ET

Yes, you can be locked up for it. This is largely do due to the efforts of the well-established alcohol industry and our government not being creative enough to figure out how to tax marijuana. And drinking is legal, but are you going to tell me that it still doesn't tear apart families and contribute to thousands of deaths a year? I suggest you, as an adult, develop your own moral compass, instead of letting "the boys in blue" impose theirs on you. I personally don't use drugs--they're not good for your brain, plain and simple. My point was that associating marijuana use with being a youth is simply the result of seeing someone with a different value set than yourself, assuming you are the "adult" in the situation, and chalking other people's behavior up to them being "childish."

For the record, I am an adult, and have "legally" been one for several years, since you're so concerned with the law. Maybe you meant I should wait until I'm old and bitter, and derive pleasure from judging other people? And yeah, this is a low blow--I'm sure you're just a product of your education, but nice grammar and spelling in that last sentence, Mr. Adult.

Not fair..An athlete forms a study group, and he catches all kinds of heat for it.
