08:23 AM ET 09.24 | Gold Glove catcher Yadier Molina would be ready for the playoffs ... if that's where the Cards were headed. [Molina] probably is out for the season with inflammation under the patella in the area of his right knee. General manager John Mozeliak made the announcement after an MRI performed in St. Louis this morning showed no structural damage but that there was enough irritation to shut down Molina for the season. "I think it's the smart thing to do," said manager Tony La Russa, who had been hopeful of having Molina rejoin the team in Chicago Friday to catch Adam Wainwright's bid for his 20th victory.

I'd just go ahead and sit all the important guys. No need to risk injury. It's going to be a strange post-season without the cards being a part of it, no?

September 24, 2010  08:57 AM ET

thank god, thank you...i cannot watch him ground into any more double plays this year...if there is a stat that shows who has grounded into the most DP's in their career, he has to be leading....don't sit him, make him learn to hit so he can do something/anything next year.

Now that the "important" milestones have been reached, I'd love to see what the "kids" can do!

Truth!

Too bad that he can't catch Adam's 20th win today, but it's probably smart to shut him down.

Bring in the kids...

September 24, 2010  09:39 AM ET

Blame it on Brandon Phillips touching his knee with his bat right before the big brawl that lit a fire under the Reds.

I agree all the way around, but you know he's gonna be fidgeting on the bench today!

Troll Alert

Apparently I need to repost this:

I'm tired of people who call themselves fans badmouthing their teams. If you're going to bad mouth your team, then don't watch them or root for them. The Cardinals draw in 3+ million a year in attendance. I'm sure Cardinals Nation can do without this idiot who fell out of the "Stupid" tree, and hit every branch on the way down. Has this year gone the way we had hoped? No, it hasn't, but I'm not going to bad mouth them. Do I agree with every move that TLR and MO have made this year? No, but they get paid a lot of money to make some tough decisions. Trading away Ludwick was not an easy decision, but one that had to be made. Idiots like " Deadbirds" who think that being a manager, or GM is an easy job, probably haven't worked any job harder than manning a fryer at McDonalds. This Jackhole needs to get a life, maybe meet a nice guy or girl (no one is judging) and move out of his mom's basement.

Just don't know what happened to the Cards. Must be the biggest disappointment in baseball this year.

Yep. Unfortunately very true.

September 24, 2010  05:21 PM ET

the cards moke their fans by let them down, most of the fans thought the red birds will be a top of their division but the cards quit playing baseball about 3 weeks ago and they were just to sick of this game straight like that!!

Sorry you have to repeat yourself! Ignorance is ongoing and this pathetic loser has it in abundance!
