Grossman to replace Vick in Atlanta?

Where will Rex Grossman end up? How about Atlanta, where the Falcons will explore multiple avenues to replace Michael Vick? Phil Emery, the Falcons' director of college scouting, was high on Grossman when he worked as a regional scout for the Bears. Maybe he can sell Grossman to general manager Rich McKay. Maybe not.

Your kidding. The guy cannot help a good team to win games, how is he suppose to make a difference on a bad team?

September 30, 2007  08:52 AM ET

they already have joey, why would they go after joey 2.0?

September 30, 2007  09:26 AM ET

If Phil Emery was high on Grossman he was smoking the good s__t!!!!

September 30, 2007  09:41 AM ET

We're talking about the Bears!! They're not supposed to have a good QB. Their stock in trade has always been defense and a running game. They need to find the next Walter Payton or Gail Sayers.

Rex Grossman would be a great fit in Atlanta. Plus, Griese would never have to look behind his shoulder to see if Grossman would take the starting job from him.

September 30, 2007  09:57 AM ET

I remember reading an article somewhere that speculated Atlanta would draft Brohm out of Louisville if possibe to reunite him with Petrino. Acquiring Grossman would not make sense if that is Atlanta's long range thinking.

OK he sucked for the Bears is he going to miraculously become a wonderful QB when stepping foot in ATL? Gimme a break....

September 30, 2007  10:45 AM ET

He will never start in the NFL again.

September 30, 2007  10:54 AM ET

Poor chicago sports writer over valuing his qb

September 30, 2007  11:06 AM ET

I think Grossman has proven what he can do. ATL should look elsewhere.

September 30, 2007  11:20 AM ET

how do they think rex will do bettter then joey

September 30, 2007  11:41 AM ET

Rex and Atlanta shouldn't even be mention in tha same sentence.

September 30, 2007  12:00 PM ET

Maybe if Chicago trades their offensive line with Rex, then maybe the Bears would score more.

Grossman to Jacksonville sounds more like it.

"...Griese would never have to look behind his shoulder to see if Grossman would take the starting job from him."

He doesn't have to do that now, despite Grossman being at the #2 slot on the depth chart.

Didn't the Falcons already pick up Leftwich? Most of the reports indicate that as soon as he is up to speed with the playbook he will take over the starting job from Harrington. If that is, in fact, the case why would the Falcons want two QBs who are absolutely lousy even when they over-achieve?

Rex Grossman needs a great offense to play in, much like Ben Roethlisberger. Without the supporting cast, his weaknesses quickly become exposed. The Bears should have looked at two things; bringing in a veteran to mentor RG and getting him the weapons to support him. The Bears are not scaring anyone with their offense. That is part Rex, but also part Cedric Benson, the receiving corps and the OL.

McKay has his sights set on a fully-recovered Chris Simms.

September 30, 2007  01:36 PM ET

Please, for the love of god, no.

September 30, 2007  01:49 PM ET

bs article.

I would actully prefer Harrington over Grossman.

people in Atlanta watch SEC football they knew about Grossman long before the Bears fans
