Cardinals star in Cowboys' future?

Profootballtalk.com recently posted a story about the unhappiness of Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald. The Cardinals are becoming a run-first club under new coach Ken Whisenhunt, which means Fitzgerald's numbers will go down. He may not be down for that blocking thing either. The Cowboys should consider making a move for him after the season. Why not give up a first-day pick for him?

Fanatsy material...The Cowboys first pick, from Cleveland, will no doubt be a top three pick, and the odds of them giving that up are slim. No way would the Cardinals take a pick at the bottom of the first round in return. They would have to throw more in to the deal. The Cowboys will no doubt make a move in the off season to get younger at that position, but this deal is not going to happen. The Cards are a team on the way up..

they could give up a 2009 1st round to avoid the 2008 browns pick issue

September 30, 2007  09:11 AM ET

It's a possibility, but somehow I don't see it happening. This is classic T & R Scuttlebutt. Run first team? 105 Pass to 78 Run? I don't think so!

i would love to have larry on the cowboys that would be great. i wouldn't mind given up the late 1st with a 3rd. that sound like an okay deal

NO way would the cards take the late round pic, (even with a 3 added in), and a 2009 pic is silly ( probably another late round choice). The Cards have no interest in helping out the Cowboys, or anyone else, but themselves.
IF they were to trade the guy for a draft choice, they would go to the team that offered them the highest pic and that would be someone way ahead of a late round pic.
It is not going to happen unless the Cowboys are williing to pay BIG for the guy. If you were the Cards, what would you expect in return? The story is just junk tabloid to begin with.

he is in a skins uniform next year

September 30, 2007  11:32 AM ET

I believe Dallas will go after him... that would be a nice combo with T.O. and Fitzgerald!

September 30, 2007  12:17 PM ET

He'll wind up back home in Minnesota, where he was a ball boy for the Vikings and learned from Moss and Carter. He wants to be here.

The Cowboys need a running back... Darren McFadden and Marion Barber sounds like music to my ears.

Stupid, nonsensical rumor...not even worth a comment.

THIS IS AN OBNOXIOUS SITUATION! I think the biggest ticket seller for the Cards (now that Leinart is failing) is their WR core...to loose one would be a complete and horrible situation. Not to mention trading Fitz to the Cowboys would be a added boost for an already excellent team...now they would have one of the best receiving cores, NOT TO MENTION, Fitz would once again be overshadowed by another star receiver....I think he would do better in Minn. personally. He is from Minn. and he used to be a ball boy for the team. I also think the departure of Dennis Green adds to his discontent in AZ, not to mention he simply sucks this season. At the end of the day he needs to get over it and play the game. He is under contract until 2010 or 2011...I don't foresee him going anywhere anytime soon really....just a bunch of talk. Oh and the redskins comment...come on DC is nothing but a run team...the duo that is Betts and Portis...unless Portis is traded this offseason, WHICH i doubt, i don't think Fitz would prosper here.

Fitz in AZ for another season....someone tell him to pipe down and play...if he would play to his potential, AZ wouldn't be a run offense...SECONDLY please go to www.azcardinals.com, WONDERFUL piece about Boldin and his abilities to be a team player and play each position, and amend to change...he goes and does whats required...I think Larry should follow suite....DUH!
