Playoffs a must for Coughlin's job?

09:02 AM ET 09.26 | It's not a great division this season. That's why the Giants better be in play. Because if they don't make the playoffs this season, if they are 8-8 or 9-7 and out of the playoffs again, it is hard to see how Tom Coughlin survives all this, with time and money left on his contract or not.

Come to Dallas bro...

Getting to the playoffs will be a challenge, but it might just happen. Dallas is already 0-2, and Philly is going to have difficulty at the QB position. It will be interesting.

NFC East is struggling out of the gate. It's a mad, mad world.

I don't think Philly has a problem at the QB position. Kolb, here's your clipboard, I believe you already know the position we will require you to take.

Dallas is 0-2, but still has scary talent everywhere, except at the O-line. The defense needs to crank it up Steeler style until they figure that out.

The Giants don't want to play football. Stick a fork in them, they are done.

Redskins, discover the Shanahan fade in the last 8 weeks of the season. It's not a fun dance.

Outlook: Philly, division winner; Dallas, possible wildcard team; Johnny Olson, please tell the Redskins and the Giants what their parting gifts will be today.

Do you really think that he and JJ could ever get along? Two control freaks under one dome?

Coughlin is a great coach. But, he has lost some really good coordinators and it shows. I think he is safe with his Super Bowl win.

Not so sure about that. Some people thought Shanny was safe with his two SB wins.

Jerry made it with his mentor...

the only way id get rid of coughlin is if we have a big time coach who wants the job...maybe we can get Cowher to come here i think he'd be perfect for the NY media and fan

The problem was that it was two SBs in Elway's last two years. Had he won one with Elway, and one with Plummer, he'd still be here.

If he won one with Plummer, they would be making his accomplishment into a major motion picture. The "Miracle Worker II" would be a great title....

Playoffs? Don't talk about...playoffs!

Playoffs?

This again - it reminds me of Farve threads just every 3 years, instead of 3 months.

September 26, 2010  01:08 PM ET

Maybe this is a giants fan at FN - cuz the last time this came up they won the SB

September 26, 2010  04:22 PM ET

The thing is, that team needs more help than the owners want to give, and yet it is the coaches fault when they are giving him bad players. Eli has played poorly this year, yet if he were to be benched, I bet the owners tell him to play him

Every time I looked at that game, Tynes was missing another field goal.

That kicker need is growing around the league...
