Sather should have a lot more to be concerned about than whether another player made a throat slashing motion to his enforcer/thug/village idiot in a preseason game. On the other hand why would anyone think that Avery would actual stop trash talking just because someone on the other team told him to?

Avery is just that. I know there are those that love him, but not in many areas outside of MSG, or the Vogue office. He was loved in Dallas, which is where his career should have ended, but nope! G Buttramm, must be a fan of the little guy!

He's a disgrace to the term pest, as it applies to the game of hockey.

I will cheer loudly in the streets the day his concussion comes a callin! He's mouthy, and an idiot, and if he really liked the game , or had true respect for it, he'd play for real once and awhile!

I don't disagree with the general premise of your post, but I will quibble with your assertion that he is an enforcer. He is without a doubt one of the biggest cowards in the NHL. I want him and his soul mate Matt Cooke locked up in a cage until no one comes out.

If a guy tries to draw a penalty by calling you (or your girlfriend) names and taking cheap shots, he's considered a disgrace to the game. However, no worries when it comes to punching guys in the face or slew (sp?) footing players. He was also called every name in the book when he came up with a new way of screening the goalie. Somehow, the NHL "code" was violated because Avery was smart enough to turn around and face Brodeur. The NHL knew that he'd found a great new innovation and quickly put a rule against it. All you losers stop whining. Avery is the best agitator in the game today. In fact, he's among the best in NHL history along with Ted Linsemen, Claude Lemieux and Matthew Barnaby.
