Cowher to coach Giants in 2011?

07:51 AM ET 09.27 | While Tom Coughlin is shouldering the blame for Big Blue's Sunday loss, he may not see the end of his contract in New York. Coughlin has one year left on his contract, and the Giants will have to decide after 2010 whether to re-up Coughlin's deal -- or whether to move on. If they choose to thank the 64-year-old coach for his contributions and pay him not to work for the franchise in 2011, the most obvious candidate to replace him becomes Bill Cowher. The 15-year coach of the Steelers, who resigned after the 2006 season, recently said that he's looking for the "right situation."

Boy, Bill's name seems to come up at every team that is considered to be under performing. I am a Cowher fan, as I am a lifelong Steeler fan, but not sure he would want the pressure of a NY coaching gig. Working for the Rooneys' is almost as close to a dream job in the coaching world. I think if/when he comes back, it will be somewhere closer to home, like the Panthers.

After watching the Giants play, I think Bill Cowher's kids couldn't do worse that Coughlin.

Let's just spin the Cowher wheel and see where it lands tomorrow. Yesterday Dallas, today NY. Anyone want to take the Niners for tomorrow?

Tom has lost the team....as it appears at the moment.

Dallas, we need the chin in Dallas.

Every time I looked in on the game friggin' Tynes was missing another FG. I understand he isn't the primary problem but that would be as good a place as any to make a change and make a point.

Kinda hard to change kickers now. Who else would do better?

Poor decisions and circumstances haunt this team. Apparently the Met's have rubbed off on the Giants..

Not a good year for a lot of kickers so far. check the Saints yesterday? OUCH! He looked like Vanderjagt. Buehler? Buehler? Buehler? Oh there he is!

Cowher did a decent job in Pitt. Took him 14 seasons to get it done but he finally did. What we need in Dallas is consistant running and a balanced passing attack.

Needed : Head Coach/Cleveland Browns

September 27, 2010  08:42 AM ET

His name going to be coming up everywhere, there's a coach in trouble. Just remember money talks ...B.S. walks. And Cowher is worth the money.

September 27, 2010  08:45 AM ET

i hinted at this before, and i hope it happens. god the giants dont have any heart/toughness.....cowher would be a great medicine for that.

One of the most surprising things (to me) in the offseason was Holmgren keeping that pile of s--t as HC. Not looking like a wise decision. But really...who expected otherwise?

September 27, 2010  08:50 AM ET

Wait didn't I see this post on Friday? I'm confused. Does this mean we can anticipate another 14 links for the other teams that lost this weekend?

I thought the Browns were looking at a Moose and a tree rodent as coaches. (a nod to your avatar.).
