Reggie Miller to Anthony: Stay put

07:58 AM ET 09.27 | Something didn't quite fit about the scene. Reggie Miller looked out of place Sunday night sitting underneath a Knicks banner inside the Knicks' training facility in Greenburgh, N.Y. watching the Knicks practice. Where is John Starks when you need him? "I can't believe I'm actually here," said Miller, an all-time Knicks nemesis. "I'm waiting for Anthony Mason to come up behind me with a club or something." Time does heal old wounds, but Miller still knows how to get under the skin of Knick fans. While raving about the work ethic and attitude of Amar'e Stoudemire, Miller also expressed hope that Carmelo Anthony reconsiders and decides to sign a new long-term contract with the Denver Nuggets.

I don't like it when players that never won a championship chime in on what players that are looking for championships should do...

This isn't the first time Reggie spoke out like this? Truth is, Reggie is a different kind of animal. Racist in Indiana burned his house down and he still stayed. If Melo doesn't want to live a mile high in arctic weather, then I don't blame him. Money isn't everything.

Especially when that player (should they listen to them) won't end up on your team.

Nobody, I mean NOBODY played better than Barkley in the '92 Olympics.
Both Charles and Reggie were all-time great players. The fact that they have never won an NBA title shouldn't diminish their careers. They are also both employed by TNT and it is their job to give opinions regarding the current events of the NBA. For anybody that wants to bad mouth them for giving opinions, get a clue. Disagree with the opinion? Fine. But to run them down and attempt to question what right they have based on accomplishments is just stupid. Everybody on here gives opinions. You're looking to get your point heard by posting it on a message board. I'm pretty sure that those guys have accomplished MUCH more than any of you have in the NBA, so if they should clam up due to lack of championships, you all REALLY need to shut your mouths due to lack of making an NBA roster. Don't hate them because they are being paid to give their opinions when you're sitting on the internet trying to get yours out.

in terms of the ships....wholeheartley agree... but don't underestimate the reach of the "jordan effect" (see Malone, Karl Barkley, Charles Ewing, Patrick ect.) Its the only excuse worth mentioning. Noting that Indiana hasn't had a sniff of respect since is a test of his status.....

I've been saying all along I'll respect Melo wherever he goes. He's been upfront about his intentions so Denver should be able to move on without him. Of course I'd be happy if he comes to NY but if he goes anywhere else that's fine too.

As far as Carmelo goes, I don't mind him wanting to play for a championship level team, or at least a team looking to go in that direction. And all of this crap isn't being said by him. He is keeping his mouth shut and doing his job. The closest thing to an outburst has been when his wife allegedly said that he wanted to play for the Knicks. Sure, he has a contract and should honor that, but he also has a right to get in the best situation for him. He's not saying that he he isn't going to honor the contract. He is. This all started because he didn't want to sign the extension Denver offered, and he questioned the direction and said that he was open to playing elsewhere. He didn't say that he wasn't going to show up or that he was going to hot dog it. He is actually HELPING Denver. The sooner they trade him, the better deal they can get. He could have remained quiet and played out the Final year of his deal, and then had an egoccentric television show in which he paraded a bunch of kids on stage to soften the blow of being a giant prick, killing the hopes and dreams of an entire fan base along with it. He has every right to say he wants to play elsewhere, contract or not. Just like the Nuggets have every right to keep him and hope that they can convince him to stay.

You are dumber than what gloria's puhssy was the night Delonte hit it. Miller never left Indiana, he also never won a championship so what the hell does he know about moving on to win? All we're saying is they shouldn't be talking on this cos they have no idea. It's like going to Lebron James for advice on free agency... dude!

For somebody who is claiming to make a lot of money, you sure seem to have hard time with this whole "reading" thing. I didn't say ANYTHING about the amount of money that you, me, Shawn Kemp or Reggie Miller make. Nor did I say that you had. I simply pointed out that the guy is being paid to give his opinions on basketball, so to do anything other than disagree with what he says is idiotic. You can disagree all you want, but to insist that he his opinion isn't valid, or that he shouldn't be assessing the situation as he sees it because he's never won anything is dumb, plain and simple. HE WAS DOING HIS JOB. If he does it poorly, he probably won't have it much longer. Just like you and however you make a living, even though that isn't the issue here.

Again, he was doing his job. Nobody said that Carmelo was going to Reggie Miller to ask advice. He was commenting on the hot-button topic in the NBA right now, which he is paid to do. You can disagree with his assessment all you want. But to condemn him and state that he doesn't have the right to voice his opinion based on the fact that he doesn't have a ring or because he stayed in Indiana (which, in my opinion, enforces his right to comment on a superstar leaving for what appears to be greener pastures). HE IS DOING HIS JOB. Is Bill Russell the only guy that can talk about players because he has 11 rings? Is Phil Jackson the only coach who can question something another coach does? No. Like I said, disagree with him all you want, but don't downgrade his qualifications to speak just because you don't agree with what the man is saying.

But someone did win it that didnt have one before in Hakeem....Whom was probably the best player in the league those two years. So someone did win one when Jordan walked away for those 2 years just not all five(Barkley, Miller, Stockton, Malone, etc...) of them won it.....
